Just seen a ad for a sporting but in the ad it says service history indicates that cam belt is due and belt tensioner is a bit noisy just wondered how reliable are the belts or do they just go pop when they are due dont want to go an buy it and it say gose pop in a week any info would be graetful

They just break at any time after their replacement period has passed, but some engines dont get destroyed.

2 engine types, interference and non-interference.

The non-interference engine just stops and strands you by the roaside, costs you the price of a cambelt kit + labour to get rolling again.
The interference one does that and costs shedloads more to fix... can be a new or reconditioned engine... Food for thought...
 
Thanks for the info guys just went and had a look at the car in question in the ad and it was a ****ing DOG the pic in the ad must have been when they first got it cos it didn't look like it anymore, once again thanks(y)(y)
