Dear guys,
I desperately need advice on my Punto Mk2.
Recently I experienced overheating on my engine. Instead of sending the head block for skimming, I replaced it with a good working Mk2b head block together with all the gasket set.
Things I thought was fine until after running approximately 30km, I noticed that some brownish oil start to build up at the radiator bottle cap. Thinking that it was due the previous engine oil entering into water system, I flushed the water and cleaned it up. But this thing keep repeating and after running for about 100km, I removed the engine oil pan plug to see if any water entering inside but it was none!
So, its the case of engine oil goes into water and not vice versa. Check through the engine cap also showed that no sign or smell of water. After running for 500km, still the same thing happened and no water in the engine oil system and engine oil keeps entering the water system.
Your experience or knowledge in this is very much appreciated.

Was donor head flat/skimmed?

Is the block face flat not warped as well?

There is potential for there to be a crack in the cylinder head or even the block as a result the oil and water keep mixing

The oil will be under more pressure vs coolant
And pressure goes the easiest route... usually to where there is less pressure

Dear Ziggy,
Tqvm for the reply.
The donor head was not skimmed. It was actually coming from a half car cut and transported here from Japan because of the age restriction for car in the country. Before purchasing the whole half car, I did check on the engine and it was running beautifully, mileage was at 76Kkm.
Even before the installation I did visual inspection on the new block that it was excellent.
I think, another possible contributing factor is that when I ordered the new gasket set online, the parcel I received was bent, hence the metal gasket inside got a minor bent too. I did some massaging to the bent part, maybe it was not so good that it was not a good fit to the donor head.
So, is it the whole idea is because of improper fitting of head?
Is it too any possibility of different channel for water in comparison between the head of Mk2 and Mk2b. The only difference that I can see is that the camshaft cover for Mk2b where there is an electronic sensor in place of a rubber hose for Mk2, which I believe have no effect at all for the channeling of cooling system.
Another thing is that, do we need or do we not to put sealant for the gasket prior to installation? If yes, please advise for the type for head and top.
Responses are greatly welcome as I plan to fix it during the weekend.
Thank you.

Thanks a lot Ziggy for the lead.
Wish if you could lead me for the installation for the main gasket, block and top. Do we need sealant on prior to fitting as the original one seems without any sealant applied?
Thank you.

Thank you very much ziggy and flisko for your kind advice.

The head was removed and new gasket put in place.

The first one was a mistake as gasket was bent, sealant was applied and not torqued properly. That were something to learn about.

Now it's running without the problem anymore. I can grin again (y):D
