Hi im new here, I just bought a 53 plate 1.2 punto active sport, and I've got to say I'm loving it, however I have come across an annoying problem after the first couple of drives in it:
When I turn the ignition on it reads no fuel and the car won't start, the starter motor is going but it seems like there's no fuel or spark, BUT if I dissconect the negative of the battery for a minute, then reconnect it, its starts fine until I turn the car off again.
Any ideas or can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Hi Mi96ke and welcome to the Forum:wave:

Two things come to mind. How good is the battery ? Have it checked out.
Open the other end of the negative battery strap at the top of the gearbox, inspect it carefully for corrosion, clean the terminals at both ends and put it back.
Another way to do both these tests at the same time is jump start the car but put the negative lead directly to the engine block, the lifting eye for example. This gives you a good battery and bypasses the earth strap from the gearbox at the same time.

I'll have to double check the key code light and the radio also comes up saying CANCHECK when it happens, and last night it all happened while the car was running, it didn't cut out or run lumpy, it was just that all of the clocks on the dash were reading zero and it reset the time and trip meter, but the car still ran fine until I turned it off and tried to start it again

But when the car is running fine the stereo works as well?

It honestly sounds like a loose connection somewhere for the dash to reset and everything still br okay wise
Till you reset / restart it all goes haywire

Id like to blame ignition barrell but they rarely fail on puntos

You dont have like 1billion keys / key chains on your keys do you?
