Have poured over all heater blower threads my problem may or may not be unique ?

First fan not working checked fuse 7.5 busted replaces fuse.

Fan ran short while cuts out . Check resistor and pronged connector all okay nothing melted.

Removes fan no debris and running freely replaces fuse runs fan in footwell runs fine on all settings connector plug fine wiring appears good.Disconnects plug puts into reverse fuse still okay. reconnects plug fan runs on all settings turns switch to zero maybe coincedence fuse pops?

Have I eliminated all problems and can it be settings switch ?

I would disconnect the motor then with the ignition on select all speeds including zero and see if fuse blows. If the fuse is ok then the problem lies with the motor. If it blows I would change fuse R8 in the engine fuse box

I will try this tomorrow as Ive ran out of 7.5 fuses .If the fuse blows when motor is disconnected does this mean the problem lies with the switch ?

Could be the relay. The fuse blows because of high current draw. I dont think its the switch cause only the negative is through the switch The live is direct to the motor via the relay R& the negative goes through the switch to the resistor pack and then to the motor. So i would suspect the relay or the motor.

Thanks for your help desperate to find a solution . Excuse my ignorance what is the relay?

The relay is mounted inside the fuse box of the engine bay Its supplies the positive to the motor when you switch the ignition on. ITS RELAY NUMBER 8

Its only the negative that goes through switch and resisitor pack and then to the motor.

A relay in the cabin. Never found that and its not shown on the diagram please tell me more. Or do you have a photo

Update on blower as suggested disconnected fan blower new fuse 7.5 inserted starts up engine straight away fuse blows . Does this prove your theory Relay is broken?

My book doesnt have a relay number 8 in it and Iam struggling with diagram. Is relay the same as maxi fuse?

Yes the F31 7.5 is the one that keeps blowing now I know with the blower disconnected

look at the legend on the inside of the fuse cover lid and look for the relay that controls heater fan. Remove the relay and try the test again I think this time the fuse will not blow.

Let me know

to the untrained eye the legend looks nothing like fuse box i have uploaded legend photo also i dont know what a relay looks like i apoligise hope you can gude me
