Hi, iv got two problems hopefully some one has found a solution for!

1) central locking - my passenger side door locks/unlocks both doors as it should but my driver side door locks/unlocks independently as if its powerless.

2) idle pulsing - every so often whilst my car is ticking over the revs will drop and jump back up to idle in a short pulsating pattern.

I have a 2004 1.2 8v active, any ideas???

sorry i cant help with any answers but my car does this , i would also be interested to know the answer (y)(y)

Could the central locking issue be related to the fact that the passenger door is in reality the driver's door for most markets and the wiring loom simply hasn't been altered ?

The first is likely to be nothing more than a loose connection.

Second "hunting idle" is usually a throttle body (actually the Idle Air Control inside the TB) in dire need of cleaning. Best clean the outside of the TB first, then remove, clean the inside. On some -- but not all -- cars the IAC itself can be removed. Aerosol carb cleaner or panel wipe is ideal.

The central locking problem initially started out as the passenger side door not closing properly because the wind caught it so if it the door wasn't shut properly the locks would jump back up when you tried to lock the car. This sometimes happened immediately or 10 minutes later! Then after a while the driver side door just start locking independently and the passenger has central locking.

From looking at the car today all I really found out was that the passenger lock is very stiff and the latch doesn't doesn't move as willingly as it should so I think the problem is definitely on that side. Is it possible I service the lock if I removed it?

As for the TB I'll clean it tomorrow and see if it solves the problem.

Thanks for help, much appreciated ?

I clean the throttle body today and haven't had the idle problem yet but not sure completely if it's fixed it but my car is quite judders quite a lot still especially at low revs so I'm thinking about changing spark plugs next, would this solve it?

As for the central problem I'm think I'm going to replace the driver lock.

When you say judder - becareful
There is clutch judder which is when you take off
There is a misfire - which is usually shows all way through rev range

when you rev the engine in netural - doe it shake the car then?
Is the engine rocking badly in its mounts?

Also DONT just change the spark plugs, change the HT leads as well
Failure to change both - could cause a surge killing your ECU :(

Ziggy

It doesn't shake so much in neutral but Judders as the revs come down, if that helps.

I will have to try that test tonight.
