im falling out of love with the thermostat again

Sluggish warm up
Easily looses heat via internal fan (on speed 1 that is!)
Driving can often loose heat
warms up when sat idle

Would you guys say its sticking open again?

Same problem has just appeared on mine, been quoted £35 all in

Mines diesel so completely different stat..... Which costs 7 times what most thermostats cost:doh:

Yep better start ordering one again. Is that a fiat one??

Im gonna order a fiat stat this time yes, i've had 3 or 4 aftermarket ones now and they work great to start with like they should
but after a few months they fail


Im still going todo what i did last time - block part of the radiator air flow off again as well

it just helps with keeping warmer

Driving with the fan on speed 1 = looses heat
Stand in traffic = Heat slowly regains
Drive like a nutter = Doesn't seem to move
You sit still for 10mins in a que with heater on full = looses heat....
It taking over 5 to 6 miles to be 8 or 9/10th's warmed up (never really reaching mid point)

Every time i stick a new stat in, the car behaves correctly, warms up quickly, and sits and stay there

It was like this last winter, however we hit summer and it doesn't show its ugly head

I love mine.....

New engine came with a FIAT stat!

Warms up pretty quick once it hits halfway itll sit there and wont even move unless i get sub going then my needles go with the beat

Im so thankful the mechanic didnt use old stat from old engine i would of been gutted! That stat was lazy as hell, pretty same as what yours is doing now. Stupid aftermarket ones are crap to say the least, get a FIAT one ordered mate!

Any one with this problem noticed idle revving is higher too? Also when gearing down the engine rpm comes down slower than the speed of the car? Can't beat fiats and their problems !!!

Well new fiat stat is proving me prowd! 1 to 1.5miles till warm on way home tonight

And yes a sluggish stat will make it rev when cold for longer as it trys to warm engine up

High idle is -- classically -- vacuum leak from inlet.

Thanks, only one more week of driving in a cold car that revs too much!

Wish I had temp gauge or even Rev counter.:bang:

don't worry, the urge will pass

Or you can upgrade if you're really going nuts without them

I love having a rev counter and temp gauge :slayer:
