Just recently I've had the engine warning light come in intermittently, I've had it checked and the error code says the're is a fault with the ignition key.
I've not got any spare keys (none that are programmed anyway, the only place nearby said they where unable to copy the code from my existing key), so before I go to FIAT themselves to get it checked and have the spares programmed does anybody have any further insight?

Hi there.

was the the engine light on or the code light on?
do you know the exact error message that was found?

If you go to fiat, they will probably want to charge an inital investigation to check the light thats on and do a diagnostic check normally at around 59, or 69 pounds.
and there after probably around about 50 pound to code the spare keys in if it is found that is all is needed.

I have replaced a lot of ignitio switches in the older puntos. the switch its self which is mounted on the rear of the barrel holder, throws up some strange errors when it messes up.
basically the pins in the switch normally become loose through time and then thast when the problems start.

if your able to give me the exact error code. i may be able to search fiat E,sysetms for you if there is any known fix.

It was just the engine light, unfortunately I don't know the exact code that was found.

Well, the lead arrived today hooked it up and read of a single error, P0115 (if I remember it rightly) which was a faulty reading for the water temp sensor.

So either the previous error was cleared and I've not noticed the EML come on (Multi-ECU Scan said 'Light ON' which I assume means it threw the EML) or the guy at the garage needs to find some better software

Same error again.

Perhaps a coincidence, but each time the light has come on I've been going down hill (which is 3 times now).

If the sensor is loose / faulty is it something simple that I can replace myself?
