Morning all,

I'm looking to get a replacement key for my 2004 Punto Active Sport (as i only got one when I bought it), I gave my local Fiat dealer a call and they quoted £230.00. They advised that the car has electric central locking (not remote central locking.

This seems a mental price to replace a key, is there any other way I can get a replacement without humping my bank balance?

That is a bit insane for a non remote key.

You need a new key with chip cut to your car and a bod with the equipment to program the car to the keys, probably no more than an hrs labour and many mobile automotive locksmith type people can do this pretty cheap now,

Look in your local yellow pages
 
I know Timpsons said they were able todo it soon (£70+ programming)

However i think my local auto sparky said he can do it for £30 per key

Make sure tho that they keep the current working key going as well
(caught parents out when spare key then didnt work after...)

So ring around, getting the key cut is only about £4, but getting it programmed is the harder part...

Nice one thanks, i'll definitely not be going to Fiat for this one, need to phone around and see what's in Fife. I'll be checking out that Locksmith as well though, cheers!

i wouldnt let that lot heal my shoes
they are franchises you know and only interested in simple key jobs and basically most of them have not got the slightest clue on what they are talking about
basically they should keep to selling kids stuff shoe polish

i would also be interested how they would do your fiat did they ask you to drive your car down the mall?
watch you dont get mr jobsworth running in front of you with his mop in hand and dandruff on his smelly uniform waving frenetically at you

Tbh i'd let them do the simple key part
provide and cut

I'd get the local sparky todo it for me :)

But i didnt use them in the end anyway
