I recently posted regarding idling problem with 53 plate punto van 1.9d non turbo.

I have plugged the van into laptop and it comes back with.no errors stored but states that throttle position sensor was closed and something about the diesel pump rotor arm but did not store error codes can anyone help with this if more specific info required please tell me and I'll plug her back in. Cheers in advance. Getting desperate now self employed and only vehicle I got on the road.

As you have started a new thread nobody knows what you are on about. Maybe explain what the fault was or find the old thread.

I bought the van two weeks ago 1.9d punto van. Non turbo. Sweet but will not tick over. Bloody nightmare to drive. Previous owner stated that he had blanked off EGR valve ??? And changed MAF sensor but made no difference. So when I got home I ordered a can bus lead from eBay to plug the van into my laptop only to find that the software that came with it was a demo so limited to what I can do. So I selected another model fiat with 1.9td engine and ran the test and it came back with no error codes stored just the mentions I put before. If you want exact wording I will go and plug her back in. I've put a cable tie on throttle pedal to now to keep the revs up. Not to clever in built up areas but at least it keeps me on the move. Cheers for reply.

couldnt tell you about the service and ehere about is the egr valve. Cant get haynes manual for my model. cheers bud. Also found original thread and updated acordingly with photos etc. cheers mate.

Cange the air and fuel filter, sure it will be due a change, it will help.

Latest update.

Took van to garage to confirm my readings just in case £20.
The first thing he got was a fault saying that the voltage was wrong in the ECU ?? Don't know what happened to that cause he then went to a different screen. All these codes then came up.
P0252 injection pump fuel metering
P0510 closed throttle position switch
P0110 intake air temp sensor 1 circuit
P0638 throttle actuator control range
P0380 glow plug/ heater circuit
P0380 again

Now that's a fair few codes only one I had got was throttle position switch.
Now I'm thinking if there is a voltage problem in the ECU could that then be making all the other sensors wonky ????
What and where do I test voltage on the ECU. Got testers etc I'm a sparky by trade 230v.
Many thanks for all your help so far

Update on idling

Have been to garage and he's cleared the codes. Been driving about a week now with no change to van. Been back to garage and no codes stored. WTF. Now have a very serious knocking sound in the engine and she still won't tick over and won't do low speeds in high hear. Have to stay in third in all 30 zones along with the noise coming from the engine now getting some serious looks. NOW WHAT DO I DO ????????? I can email anyone a sound file of the engine noise of required. Pm me your details. Many thanks in advance.
