Hey guys bought a Punto on Friday, it was loud to begin with as it was completely empty of all oil, I went the shop bought some oil tested the noise of the engine an revs with oil in and went silent again, although the drive felt boggy and under powered, every time I stopped it felt like there was a chance my car was going to cut out and stop working completely, so I had to keep the revs up at all times, this got worse the closer I got to home, an I lived at least 10miles away, the noise of the engine came back, it was a loud knocking noise sounding allot louder and deeper than just tappers though. got to the end of my street and the engine stops working all electrics stayed on and there wasn't much jolting or anything from the car.

I pushed the car to the the side of the road and went home as it had just tarting snowing really badly, the next day I tried turning the car back on and there wasn't anything, the electrics worked, but the starter motor made 1 knock and then nothing, tried roll starting the car which didn't work, then my friend tried using jump cables to start the car which also failed, think my engine may have seized as my coolant pipes have frozen solid.

Sorry for the wall of text but didn't want to miss out on any detail, is there anything I can do to get it working again or is that it? if I have to buy a new engine what sort of engines can be converted into the car?

oh yes I drive a Fiat Punto 60 SX on a T reg think its the MK1

Sounds like your engine has siezed solid mate, sorry. Put a socket or a spaner on the front lower flywheel and see if you can turn the engine by hand. If not, Siezed solid mate and get a new engine.

Yea just as I feared, would it have a higher success rate in better whether? And what sort of engines can be fitted in the SX60? seems like there's loads of room in the engine bay

First stop will be your underwriter. Put a diiferent engine in and suddenly you have a modified car with all the cost implications.

No oil and no coolant would suggest the cars not been well looked after, before deciding on an engine change check all the other components for wear/abuse. It could cost more than just an engine to get it right.

Cheers
