im having problems connecting my ecu to fiatecuscan. got my cable. installed the drivers etc... it trys to connect to the ecu and then it says requires registered version and it can only run in "simulation" mode. what does this mean? am i doing something wrong? :bang:
im trying to connect to the Bosh Motronic ME7.3H4 EOBD injection. i think thats what i got - my car is a 1.2 16v punto from 2001. im not trying to connect to the stearing, just the ecu to find out why my eml is on.
it was running on COM3 or COM16. once i sorted the latency etc i set it to COM3 which was one of the given options but still keep getting the error code and shouldnt need to buy the registered version for what i need it for.
any ideas whats going on? i need to get these codes read b4 i take it to the garage for a service so they can deal with the faults too.:bang:

You've answered your own question. From Yani's website, list of supported vehicles. The ME7.3H4 ECU needs the registered version of FiatECUScan.

Here's the list. Items printed in red need the registered version.

How much would a garage charge you to read the codes?

Anything from £30. Most expensive I've heard of is £70 at a dealer.

You can get a code reader off eBay that will do canbus for about £20-25, which is what I have. I haven't come across a OBD-II car it won't read.

which reader is it do u have? ive found a few but not sure which is best for money. link would be good.

before i get one though, can anyone tell me for sure if ive selected the correct ecu model keeping in mind its a 2001 1.2 16v ELX? i dont have a clue when it comes to this sort of thing so wanna be sure ive selected the right options, spesh as the software itself is new to me. thanks.

Have a search for U480 code readers on eBay. There's a U380 but that doesn't do canbus and it's only slightly cheaper than the U480.
