Many thanks ! , I may be able to get my car back off the missus now ! ... . I hope she hasn't snapped my cambelt with her unique driving style (y)

You are too quick for me, you replied before I managed to edit my message :)

Exactly what I was after. But how do you know which bolt is which number. Are they numbered on the cover? Thanks.

...but there are only 6 bolts! I have a MK2 1.2 8v. Maybe the above is for the Mk1? Has anyone got the torque settings for the above, and the toightening order? Would appreciate a quick reply as I'm half way through the job at the moment. Thanks.

you have 10 trust me, this if for head bolts, you not talking about your cam cover are you?

Yes! Sorry! Is the torque important on that? I reckon they wern't light enought before because it was leaking badly, but the gasket is OK (which is a relief because the shop provided me with the wrong one!) Thanks for your instant reply!

Thanks, I tried the blue hylomar but it's still leaking! :( Any other suggestions? Is there any trick to putting it on? I guess I put it on about 0.5-1mm think, with my finger.

Hi Guys,
I'm replacing the cylinder head gasket on my sons Punto,
(1.2 8 valve head) the info for the head torque was just
what I was looking for, but I had to strip the head to get
it skimmed, I'm now looking for a torque setting for the
camshaft bearing caps. hope someone can help....cheers.:)

tighten the bolts up to 30nm until your torque wrench "clicks" or whatever it does to let you know that you have reach your designated torque. Then using an angle gauge fitted to the torque wrench, tighten the bolts once again in the correct tightening order, until the angle gauge indicates 90 degrees, once this is done, do the same again!

If you don't have an angle gauge you can get the torque wrench as square to the side of the head as possible, and then move it around 90 degrees (or slightly over) - obviously no where near as accurate though!

HTH
