OK, like many Fiat owners my wiper linkage bar has fallen off....again!!

So I thought to fix it once and for all i'd take off the arm (quite easily) remove the spindle and look at how easy or possible it would be to fit some sort of split pin or other device to hold the bar in place.....

Any ideas how to easily remove the spidle? There is a washer on top of the spindle keeping the bottom bar in place..It's one of those type that has cuts around the inner circle and when puched into place "pops" up to grip the spindle....

I don't want to damage anything so i'm reluctant to use a hammer....

Any tips would be great..

I had the same problem a while back. When I bought my car it only had one wiper arm! I bought http://cgi.ebay.ie/PUSH-ROD-SET-BLADES-FIAT-DOBLO-WIPER-MOTOR-LINKAGE_W0QQitemZ200387425717QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2ea80575b5 and I must admit I highly recommend them. Exceeded my expectations.

The arms just snap on. I cleaned the links up with wire brush attachment for the drill and then put some vasaline on them. Then simply snap on the arm.

Rusty links

Cleaned up with new arms

The wipers now perform excellently, honestly. The blade wipers are perfect and the action is silent.

Hope this helps!

Remove it from the car, as a cheaper way of repair
you can then drill above the ball and fit the bars back into
place with a washer and cotter pin. Remember which bar
goes where because they are different lengths.

Hi all,

Not sure whether I should have started a new thread or not but there is loads on the same type of subject so probably not.

My driver side wiper decided to stop working today while I was driving to work, I haven't looked yet but I'm sure it's the wiper linkage as the same thing happened about a year ago. And it has also happened to the passenger side about 2 months ago. This one I have used some wire to stop it from disconnecting. But now I think it's time to replace the linkage. Only problem is my knowledge of cars and their inner-workings are minimal at best.

I've seen a wiper linkage here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SNAP-ON-PUSH-...CarParts_SM?hash=item2ea6ded009#ht_631wt_1165

Is that the correct one for a Mk 2 Punto? How difficult are they to fit? I've read minimad99's guide which is for a Stilo. Is the Punto exactly the same?
