(T) Punto acceleration problems

I posted a few weeks ago regarding how to do the Timing and today i managed with a friend to look at this and we noted all the timing marks lined up correctly, i also clean the sensor but this has had no effect.

I will try to explain what happens and hopefully someone can help me out. When i first start the car from cold its very sluggish and some times it backfires (only and small popping sound not a large bang). Once i get it started i allow it to heat up and try to pull away but to pull away without any kangaroo effects (holdingback/ jumping forward) i have to give it plenty revs. Also i have noticed that its more of a problem at low revs and if for example i was going a steady 40mph (i dont notice and probs here) but wanted to push towards 50mph as soon as i hit the accelerator i get some slight kangeroo effects. Does anyone have any ideas?

the backfire is unburnt furl soo to me sounds like something on the ignition side of things. not firing especially when damp and cold. you have probaly checked all ready but what about the plugs ? leads and coil pack ?

Well we checked the plugs and all were a sandy colour which i guess is ok, but how can i check the leads and where is the coil pack?

coil pack is the other end of lead to the plugs, did you check plugs for a spark? if they dont spark and if you fit new and the new plugs still dont spark its proubly coil pack or maybe leads

well sandy color is correct color for plugs.

the ht leads can be visualy checked make sure there are no cracks or splits along the length of the casing.

the coil packs are what the ht leads plug into (other end to the spark plug) i dont know how you can check these. someone else on here may no.

Can i assume as the Spark plugs have a sandy colour that all the plugs are ok and that the leads are ok and the coil is ok as they all the this one job?

i would say no you cant

sandy plugs is good sign for the plugs but dont mean rest is ok.

no you gotta check they spark

How can i do that?

take plug out, fit it back in lead, lay it on top of engine, get frient to turn engine over look at it if its sparks nice blue spark in the gap its ok, dont touch it though while he is turning it over it will hurt.

Any other ideas as going to scrapyard tomoz with uncle and have another look...

if they all spark all is ok, but if 1 or 2 of them dont swop them for the ones that do if they still not spark its coil pack

ecu, carb, leads etc...

you gonna nick this stuff?

coil packs would be handy, dont fit second hand leads or plugs they are cheep enough anyway, and a carb would be no good to you because puntos dont have them
