Hi can anyone help me? My BiL is trying to ready his 97 55S for sale. The battery had drained as the car had not been used a while so he removed it to charge it. However when he came to reconnect the battery, he finds he can't start the car due to the alarm/immobiliser going off.

The car has a factory fit fiat alarm with internal sensors. When he reconnects the battery he gets a single "plip" from the alarm. When he comes to put the key in the ignition he can't start the car due to the alarm then going off.

He has a remote for the alarm (not locking - just alarm) which flashes when he presses the button but does nothing. He informs me he has never used the alarm since he got the car (about 18 months ago). Anyone know how to reset or deactivate this? He does have the red key etc.

Thanks

Here are the pictures for the offending sensors, alarm fob and red security key.

The alarm and im assuming immobiliser goes off when i turn the key. Key icon does come up saying 'CODE' but i have tried using the red security key as well as the other normal keys. No joy. Any ideas.

It doesnt seem to be a movement sensor problem because i can open the doors and get in the car etc, its just on the turn of the key. As previously mentioned by Toothpuller, the car has been without a battery connected for 2 or 3 hours.

Regards, Hockayak

I have a retro fitted alarm system and had a similar problem. I contacted the alarm company who advised me to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for two minutes, then to reconnect. That worked for me so maybe try that?
