I have an eratic feul gauge on my X reg punto Sporting, It seems to have a mind of its own just after being filled up and will wave up and down until around half empty!! Sometimes a full tank will show empty and light the fuel light!! its driving me mad, can anyone give me an explanation or a way to fix - please!

Also do i own the only punto with loose bits behind the sunroof, inside the roof lining??!! sounds like a babies rattle above my head! ;)

sender unit ay, ok i'll be looking into that just as soon as i find out were its at, and how to get at it! Be back in a few days begging for help probably, many thanks for the information guys.

Must be something about sprint blue sportings!! they probably all have rattles in the roof, full Vol does seem to do the trick though ta.

yeah sender unit i know a few ppl who had this and fiat charge a s**te load for the repair (if not under warranty)

do u let the tank go right empty b4 u fill up?

Hey guys im back again! ive been a bit lazy and aint sorted it yet but its on my "to do soon" list.

In answer to one question, no i dont run it till its empty, well not totally anyway! normally fill er up when fuel light comes on so around 80 miles left in the tank, that cant be the cause can it????

In reply to Wolfracepunto, I WISH IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY!! I really do! but out of interest do you know what fiat charged?? normally i wouldnt give them the steam off my **** ( Bishops of Guildford!!!!) but would be helpfull to know, ta.

Also would a problem with the sender cause my total mile count to be out?? i reset the counter when i fill up normally, and as you know a 1.2 16v sporting shows around 420 ish miles on fill up ( well mine does anyway ) but counter said i'd done about 300 miles, and that was a very empty tank this time??!! before the mental gauge problem it would say around 400 miles from a tank ( driven like my mom in 6th gear )

oh, haynes manuals any good in your opinions?? I can strip a computer in seconds and make it work again, not quite so good at cars!:(

i dunno whether or not emptying the tank can cause that- mine hasnt gone yet and im always in the red, the other day i ran out of petrol :I coz i was seeing how low i cud get the needle....(or im too tight to fill it up)

the price was over hundred i think he said [xx(]
