I have a MkII fiat (W Reg) with Central Locking and I have experienced a rather strange problem in the last couple of days.

When I press my remote to lock the car and set the alarm, the car locks, then instantly unlocks itself. However the alarm sets and stays on.
As you can imagine, this is not a good sign. I tried to do it manually, but the same problem occurs. I lock it, it unlocks itself. Eventually it locks, but i'm worried about the time it doesn't lock.

Anybody experienced this before, or have any idea what the problem may be? If so, any tips or clues as to what I should do, or say to a mechanic?
Thanks in advance
Keith

Hi,

That normally happens when one of the doors or the boot is not shut properly. Simple things first, try opeingin all the doors, boot, bonnet etc and then shut them and try. Might just be one of them isnt making a proper connection.

Hears hoping!

yes the simple things first(y)

one of the door pins can be obstructed and when that happens the locks return to open so as not to cause any damage to the motors,., try locking it by hand from the inside on each door a few times and see if any of the pins feel like there being obstructed.,(y)

Cool cheers for the responses so far.
I've tested all the doors and it says they are all closed, and they have been. I will try the locking when inside the car.
If it is one of the pins is out of place like a couple of you have suggested, is it easy to solve i.e can I do it myself, or am I goin to have to part with some cash?
It hasn't done it in a couple of days now, but im still very wary

Cheers again#
