Looking at all this talk about the new 100HP test by Autocar – am I the only one who saw a British car magazine article about a Panda (Multijet?) being put through it’s paces against a Maserati Quattroporte ?

Mad as this sounds, when I was researching the Multijet, I read loads of articles in magazines about it and recall an article about it going around a test track. It was not the one sided race that you might imagine – the Maserati had it on the straights but the little Panda pulled some space back on the bends.

Be interesting to see how the 100HP might do.

The article was printed about mid 2004 I think but I cannot find it anywhere on the net. Any help anyone?

There was an article featuring a Panda and a Maserati in Autocar some time back, but it wasn't on a track it was over the roads of Salisbury Plain.

Considering I never buy Autocar (on principle!) it is an unbelieveable coincidence I actually have a copy of it in my drawer at work (it's a long story). If you're still interested I could scan it tomorrow and PM it over to you ...

Thanks, Schwenck - if it's not too much trouble - I though I had been dreaming - couldn't find it anywhere. I think the Multijet was the 'baby' 100HP - it has some of the grin factor of the 100HP with 65 - 75 mpg as well (though not at the same time of course)

If I 'enjoy' myself with it over twisty B roads on my way to work and then push it up the motorway on my travels to the big city, I can be as low as 58 / 59 mpg. Still it's worth it to see the look of surprise on some of the drivers I get past in the twisties on the B roads.

Thanks again.
