How do they repair or straighten a buckled alloy lik this? Is it safe to do this?

I dropped it off and picked it up after a few hours, but I think some heat (not too much to not damage the integrity of the material) templates and some pressure would be involved.
My tireguy guaranteed it would be Ok and it's three years (and 4 trips to Croatia) ago and it has given no problem whatsoever.

Calling Peter, calling Peter! :)

Just shouting out as you mentioned meeting up today which would be brilliant but I have not heard back from you via PM. Just posting here in case the PM's did not get to you.

I can vouch for the "getting the alloy straightened out" method. When I bought mine it had a fair vibration, which I assumed would just be the wheels out of balance. My local mechanic said they were "badly buckled", but an hour with a specialised wheel fixing place (Edinburgh) and they were round again. The only thing they advised was putting the buckled wheels on the back.

I think they can recover pretty much anything - it's been 2 years since I got mine fixed, and no issues or leaks.

Cheers Peter! Top man who went out of his way to help. (y) :)

My brother ran over a length of 4 x 2 in his Alfa 156 on the M6.

All four telephone dial style wheels were dinged though they still held air. Total cost was £200 for straightening and they did not even need to be repainted.

I hit a pothole in a car with steel wheels. The front tyre was flat before I could stop and clearly beyond repair (rim was kinked).

The very low profile tyres will run when at VERY low pressures which is very very bad news in the longer term. It is important to check tyre pressures on all cars, but has the potential to cause a catastrophic failure on a very low profile tyre after relatively short distances. I check weekly now without fail. I also now inspect the tyres -inside and outside - sidewalls on a regular basis to check for cracks!!

Just to back this up when I checked pressure in the replacement ones it was around 10psi!

You simply would not have a clue from looking at them.

Additionally it takes a tiny amount of air to inflate these and a mere nano second of a gnat's breath between say 30psi and 32psi. I'm more used to Land Rover tyres which take an age to fill...

Try a floor standing bicycle tyre pump. Mine does a 150-70-17 motorbike tyre in no time. It's MUCH easier than a foot pump so much so its not worth the hassle of going to a garage to use their random pressure tyre pump.

What about the spare mirrors for your car??, one is damaged and won't fold in(passenger side) I was going to leave them in the boot.

I have spare door mirrors for your car, I broke one and swapped it out. I still have the broken one and a spare other side. I forgot to leave it in the car, I have a Haynes manual for it as well if you want it too.

 Are you the actual first (and only previous) owner of my actual 100HP? If so please PM me. :)
