Hi,

After removing the air box today I found pink crust on one of the heater matrix pipes, the one that runs straight into the rear of the engine block. The pipe seems in good shape and the clip is equally fine.

I cleaned the crust off and felt around the pipe which to me felt a little damp. I couldn't see any pink residue lower down (hinting at a large leak which drips).

Should I renew the clamp/pipe or due to it being quite a small leak (or even non existent?!), should I leave it alone.

Decided to do a bit of investigating;

I started my car up, put the heating on 'HI' (I have climate control) with the fan set to max. Removed the air filter housing so I could adequately check for leaks.

Low and behold... no leaks. The rubber pipe (to and from) the heater matrix was HOT however there were no leaks, no dampness, no nothing. I can only think the pink staining is from another time (accidental spillage?).

Inside the car was roasting (and of course lingered of petrol, due to the air box being removed) and still no leaks.

I'm glad that it appears fine at least :D

The radiator on my Panda (2009) is in good condition.

The heater pipe (from the matrix running into the block) had a bit of pink staining around the pipe connector, but after getting the car up to temp, no leak was visible. I'll certainly keep my eye on it.
