Well I thought it was about time I did the decent thing and introduced myself and my current steed as well as some of my previous charges.

After being at 18 with a humble mini 1000 check mate, I had a MPI cooper, escort, Volvo 480, toyota Corolla, a race tuned mini MPI 1293, fiat 500, Honda CRX, Skoda Octavia VRS Estate, and a Mazda 5 Furano.

After an "incident" in the Mazda just before Xmas 2012 I got the panda 100HP just after new year. It's used daily and it harks back to my mini days, I don't find the suspension too hard and find it very well sorted. It's done 46k and had the cambelt and water pump done on Monday.

So far I have :-

Changed the knackered old blue badges for some new ones, inc centre caps
Fitted osram night breakers to the headlights
Fitted the "cooper man" induction modification
Fitted BMC panel filter

Plans are
Ragazzon group N (August/September)
Koni Sport and H&R's or KW V1's (over winter)
Discs and Pads upgrade (feb)

All ready for a trip to the ring in May/June

Any way the pics!

A while back I managed to pick up some Abarth springs and shocks, looking more to drop the car slightly and rule out the nose pushing wide slightly in wet conditions when pushing on.

Having fitted, which is a straight swap, and had geometry aligned, it feels more supple that the previous firm ride, with more lean/roll

I'm not sure I like it, there is no additional drop either in ride height.

I will probably change it back to standard next week and look at going to KW variant one.

This isn't to say its a bad modification, it's just not what I was looking for, for my car.

That car is looking clean :worship:

As this might be my next car what is it actually like to live with, fuel, tax and all that
:) Zac

Tax is gbp 170 a year, I do 48 miles a day getting between 42 and 50 mpg dependant on driving style.

If the car you have your eye on doesn't have upgraded speakers and head unit I would consider that, mine had a full infinity set up with alpine head unit and sub done by the previous owner which is great.

The ride is firm but I like it that way having spent a lot of time in classic minis it's no worse.

Grip is phenomenal in these little cars and the gearbox is rifle bolt smooth, buy one you won't regret it.

As mentioned by Dev, tax is 170 quid a year (at the moment...).

Personally, I've averaged 37mpg over the past ~2500+ miles. Saying that, quite a lot of my driving is in and around cities and when I do get a chance to drive on more open, interesting roads I'm more...enthusiastic, lets say (y).

The ride is hard and bouncy, especially over speed bumps. I used to drive a 2010 Fiesta and the ride in that was like a Rolls Royce compared to the Panda :p! I guess how hard you find the ride will depend a lot on what you've driven in the past, though.

Overall the car is great to live with. It's reasonably practical (with the rear seats flat I got all my stuff from Uni in the boot, easily) and yet great fun when you want it to be. Not to mention the fact it's dirt cheap to insure for such a fun car, thankfully it seems boy racers never discovered the 100HP, all the better for the rest of us!

Well atm i drive a Mk2 Punto on coilovers so i guess i could cope with the ride :D and im only 18 but i got quotes fot the 100hp and the mk2 1.2 and it turns out tat the 100hp is cheap to insure I DONT GET IT but still 1700

So are they worth it cause i'd be looking at spending 5/6 grand on just getting one:shrug:

Thanks for the reply tho!

Definitely better than the punto. More fun and nicer to look at, rarer so values will increase over time.

If I had to pick again I'm pretty confident I'd still go with the panda.

Ouch...£1700?! Mine was only 700 and that was with no voluntary excess (compulsory of 250 with Admiral). Have a look at Admiral, Diamond and Elephant, they're all owned by the same parent company and were by far the cheapest for me. Also, pay annually if you can, makes it much cheaper (and stick your mam and dad on as named drivers).

I'd say a good 100HP is worth spending that much on, it's a damn good car. One thing to note, it doesn't have 5 seats like your Punto does, it's a strict 4 seater.

I might have seen this before in Leyland? :)

I live on Croston Road, 100 yards from the Leyland Trucks roundabout so more than likely if you have been around Leyland you'll have seen me!

However there is another white HP on Leyland Lane (just past the Tesco Express) that looks similar but has a magnetti marelli sticker on the boot instead of the abarth, Nurburgring, Guy Martin combo I have!

Only seen a black one loitering round the area other than that!

That's a lot of 100HPs around you! I've only ever seen another three ever: a grey one on the M18 near Doncaster, a blue one up in Hull and a red one (waves were exchanged :p) in Loughborough.

There another in Preston I haven't seen about and one in Blackpool too!
