Mate has just got a 2004 1.2 8v Fire panda manual ....... Cable throttle rather than fly by wire electronic TB

Anyhow all is good apart from when coming up to a junction in 2nd gear mostly off the accelerator quickly it jumps/ judders till you dip the clutch or touch the accelerator again......

It doesnt do it when you come off the acceleration slowly...

Anyone?

Going to get new plugs this weekend and oil and filter it cam belt has been done (was doing it before change anyway)

Cheers in advance

I'd put my money on a new set of plugs.

From recent experience, the 1.2 FIRE runs better and is less prone to juddering on NGK DCPR7EIX Iridiums; £25.56 a set including delivery from here. Read all about it in this thread.

Just a quick update got some basic oem spec NGK plugs slapped in and it runs a Hell of a lot better old plugs looked a bit past it although were still clean / healthy looking... Next task is for him to slap a tank of super unleaded in and give it a good healthy Italian Tune up

thanks again jrkitching

Andys mate is me, I just thought id give some more updates.
The car is still doing the ''judder'' though I think the plugs may have helped matters then again could just be in my head. It occurs when you lift off the accelerator and the car is in gear and in motion. It is most noticeable at around 15 20 mph in second and third gear. Have had it at the garage today and mechanic looked at it under ramps. I could see too, all three engine mounts look good and have no excessive wear. Other then the annoying judder it drives great. It pulls well, does not break down under load, ticks over great runs and pulls ok. Also spoke to Fiat mechanic and tried my best to describe the symptoms and he seemed to listen and basically said its difficult without experiencing the judder but he had never come across it before.

Car has recently had;
Timing belt kit (done with locking kit)
Water pump
Rocker box top gasket
Spark plugs
Engine Oil and filter
Coolant
Gear oil checked; clean and level

The car did the annoying judder before this work was carried out, just though I would say so so can rule a good service out, also running it on shell optimax in case it needs a good clear out.
Any help on this would be much appreciated as running out of ideas

Thanks folks

Just a thought, couldn't the mechanic shift himself to do a test drive???
And...I just know this'll annoy, but our dynamic has always, from new, done a sort of kangaroo shuffle when first starting off, low speed, in 2nd - might do it in 1st too, but who uses that? We've a blind right hand corner to negoiate on the way out and I dip the clutch as it comes up to prevent the shuddering. Too low a speed on approaching a junction can almost always replicate it too. And I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before somewhere. No help, sorry, but at least you're not alone :(

EDIT: Got bored, found this, who knows?

did you find the issue?

Since this thread has been revived, I too can confirm I get these symptoms on my 1.2 2005 Dynamic.

When at junctions, if 2nd is engaged and I slow down to get a look left and right, then proceed to move even with the car around 1k revs, it shudders. Almost like when other cars would stall, however it rarely does in this situation.

Mines was serviced by Fiat in February, so whatever plugs they used I have and no remarks about the others being extremely worn.

I've concluded this is one of the characteristics of either the engine or the gearbox/clutch setup. I've also noticed if you rev extremely high to the point people might stare and move off, it either doesn't happen at all or gets more violent and over with the shudders faster!

Glad to know it's not a problem with my car, disappointing to know it seems to be the 'way it is' Still, I can live with it.

thanks

the issue i have is a kangaroo hopping when i pull away in 1st.

could this be the same, or perhaps a clutch (or something else?)
