Hi peeps

The O/S sidelight bulb on my 100HP has gone, I have what should be the correct replacement but not sure how to fit it.

There is an opening cover on the rear of the headlight unit that I assume gives access to the bulb holders but it cannot be opened with the headlight in-situ has there is insufficient clearance so it seems the whole unit has to be removed, or at least released and moved forwards.

There is a blindingly obvious screw at the top but how is it connected eleswhere? I had a grope about and wiggled it a bit but it didn't want to come out and I don't want to damage it!!

Anyways, double entendres notwithstanding some advice would be welcomed please before I find myself on some sort of register.

Thanks

I'm not sure if they are the same for the 100hp and the standard, but the standard has a backing cover on the back with a retaining clip that pops to one side.
Just pulls to one side and you should then be able to remove the backing cover.

Push in and twist the sidelight bulb holder and the bulb holder and bulb should come out of the headlight.

Hi

Thanks for the reply but the backing cover cannot be opened because there are some metal pipes immediately behind the light unit on the 100HP which is why I think the headlight unit has to be removed first. As I recall the cover can only open about 1cm or so so there is no way I'll be able to get my hand in to access the bulb holder unless I'm missing something.

Admittedly it was raining at the time so I wasn't minded to spend 10 minutes fiddling with it to find out but as it is still raining I thought I'd ask here first :)

Just had a 100HP myself and came across this problem. They are the pipes that go to the aircon condenser. Get a small sharp knife and mark the cover .5 of an inch either side of the pipes. Remove the cover (doable - slowly open it against the pipes, hinging along the edge nearest the outside of the car - until the inside is clear and it can be slid out - the pipes will give a little to allow this). Once off make a slightly concave section on the cover between the marks you made to make refitting and future removal a lot easier.

Well I got it replaced but what a faff! Took over half an hour of fiddling to get the bulb holder out. I had to move the indicator bulb and coolant tank out of the way to make it possible. Also lost a fair bit of skin but got there in the end.

Next time I'll use one my kids to do it as it clearly hasn't been designed with any thought to adult hands.

they should think about replacing bulbs more when they design cars:shrug:
took me awhile to work out how to do on my panda, but even now i know i still manage to cut up my hands:bang:

Saying its no where near as bad as Mk7 Transit, i gave up trying on that and took it to the garage.
