Okay, let's get one thing out of the way right at the start......I'm a muppet!!:bang:

My Panda key-fob has more or less died - rubber bits over the buttons worn out and cracked (it was like that when I bought the car, so at least THAT isn't my fault). So I bought a replacement key-fob on Fleabay, guaranteed to work with my 2005 model. After a lot of fiddling about - it took me a long time to twig that the new fob simply wasn't going to close with the PCB inside, despite the "guarantee" - I reassembled the old key-fob.

This seemed okay....until I tried to start the darned car; the doors unlock okay but the immobiliser light is on and it just won't play ball. I checked when dismantling the original fob and there didn't seem to be a separate immobiliser "glass pill" so I assumed it was part of the PCB - however I did end up having to leave the PCB unpowered for a while several times during the "why haven't I got 3 hands" routine. The good news is that I'm now an expert at disassembling and re-assembling Panda key-fobs at speed! :D

So the questions:

1 - IS there a separate immobilise chip and is it so tiny I simply didn't notice it? If so, this is not good news as I carefully cleaned up the work-surface after and the bin-men have been since.

2 - If, as I hope/suspect, the immobiliser chip is on the PCB, how do I get the darned car to recognise it again?

Just the add another twist, the car is in Bulgaria - as am I for another couple of days and my wife is not happy at the prospect of being on foot for however long it takes to sort while I'm away for the next month.
