After I get the clutch done on my Multijet, I'll be looking at getting a touch more performance from it.

Obviously, this boils down to a choice between a "Tuning Box"or a proper remap.

The tuning box route is cheap and simple - it just pumps more fuel in, as I understand it.

I'm not so sure what parameters a remap would tweak on the Multijet though - can anybody specifically enlighten me? Boost pressure, injection timing, duration, etc?

I had my old 406 HDi 110 chipped by Dennis Leach soon after I got it, and it transformed the car completely. While I don't expect such a change in my little Fiat, I cant help but think that doing the job "properly" would be beneficial, as I'm not completely sold a solution that just seems to dump in more fuel across the whole rev range.

With my chipped 406, the turbo kicked in earlier, blew harder and peaked for longer - it really evened out the spikiness of the torque curve. Made the car an absolute pleasure to drive, and it was pretty good anyway!

Will a remap give me similar results on the Panda, and will it be worth the (considerable) extra cost over a box?

I know this issue has been done a few times, but I can't find any specific info on what parameters a remap changes on the Multijet engine.

Cheers
