Someone's a bit moody..

Yes. Tbh I think it's silly that he seems to feel that to get help someone should provide something in return. Now if I'm honest I don't like the sorts of people who only come on forums for help and NEVER contribute, but this is a new member and he simply hasn't had the chance to help anyone else out yet.

The problem with the Panda is that the rear wiper then operates continuously, thus wiping an almost-dry rear screen. With the amount of reversing manoeuvres we do on lessons, I encourage my students to use the single wipe facility [pushing the stalk upwards]. This will then clear the front and rear screens simultaneously but only when necessary. My Mk6 Fiesta had the same feature but when selecting reverse gear, the rear wiper operated intermittently - far better.

I'm glad you are happy with your new car though! (y)

Well, I can see your point if you`re an instructor, because learners do take time reversing. But in normal circumstances, you shouldn`t be in reverse for a great length of time, or so long as to cause trouble with the wiper. But in your case, I can see why you`d prefer intermittent wipe.

And yes, I am happy with my new car, thanks ;)

Always “nice” to see `members’ that fire in Q’s demanding A’s -all while sat on their arse & offering nothing by way of reciprocal input.

I only asked a question about tyres, didn't expect to be subject to your personal line of abuse. Didn't realise you were in charge but thanks for your advice and answers.

You get to know forum users, i can't help with your question but there are many that can. :) There are keyboard warriors everywhere.

Going far back on subject, i find my Panda on 14's are okay in the dry and okay in the wet.. i dont have amazing tyre's though and i don't want to get into that debate ;)

Don't worry about it, you will get used to his posting style, some of us even choose to ignore it :)

But I am in charge around these parts, so all is good...

Different styles, opinions, agreements, disagreements etc etc … goodness, it’s a microcosm of planet Earth! … getusedtoit.

Yee haw!

It bucketed down the other day and I had to go out in the car. It rained so heavily that even with the wipers on full speed, I had to slow to around 30mph because at times, I still couldn`t see through the rain.

The Dynamic handled superbly! The air con kept the windscren clear and yet the car didn`t get too cold. I really loved driving in the rain, the car felt so secure.

I`m loving this over the Seicento now:slayer:

My MJ Dynamic doesn't. As for tyres, I've had the 14" factory alloys from new and originally they had 165 Continentals fitted when it arrived. At 32,000 miles I replaced them with 175 Avons. I think they are 65 Series and are normal energy saving versions. I didn't notice a great (if any) improvement over the 165s. I asked about, and was advised against, fitting anything wider.

It might be advisable to enquire at one or two tyre suppliers/fitters and see what they think about the safety aspect.

I'm going to replace mine in about a month so would be interested in what others on here have experienced.

I agree with you about the wipers. I also use my Panda to do tuition and find that the front intermittent has too long a pause between wipes and generally get pupils to use flick wipe when going forward.

The front screen intermittent setting needs a variable-delay controller as fitted to both Mk6 and Mk5 Fiestas that I ran previously.

I said it in my 60,000 review but Ford's wiper/lights/demister controls were perfect. If every manufacturer replicated them, it would be a good thing (y)

Tbh all you're really experiencing is a car on more or less new tyres with new suspension. A car on new tyres is always going to feel good in the rain.

It is odd this is missing, but guessing cost saving. I've upgraded since as my 26 year old Toyota has a lovely variable intermittent dial for the wipers. :)

It also has indicators that work properly. :p

Well,my Sei had 4 new tyres last June, so I don`t think it`s just because of new tyres. Maybe the differecne in the tyre - the Sei had low profile.

It always slipped if I accelerated a little too quickly, so far the Panda hasn`t.

The suspension is way different, the Sei was a Sporting so was quite hard.

My old Corsa had quite a neat variable intermittent without any extra switches. You gave a flick-wipe and then when the screen got rainy again you put it into intermittent and it would keep that timing.

If you think the Panda has bad indicator stalks try driving a Vectra for a while :)

There can be a lot of factors, a Seicento is lighter for one and possibly had a better power to weight ratio. Could have also been better tyres on the Panda than the Seicento as well

The Mk5 Fiesta was similar - switch on intermittent, wipe, switch off, switch on again when required and the new delay was established. I wonder how many owners actually realised that they had this feature?!

The Mk6 Fiesta had a rotary switch to set the delay - a lot easier to explain to students!

As for Corsa and Vectra controls, they remind me of my S1 Elise  ;)
