What can I say? Absolutely brilliant!!

I simply cannot believe the transformation, Eibach springs and Koni dampers are the future.

I've had this kit since January but didn't want to put it on with all the snow, ice and salt I thought we were going to have - but now it is complete.

I have partially stripped the car, so it is minus 67kg, and I was concerned about the effect this would have on the rear end as it already had a tendency to swap ends - my fears were unfounded, the car is a peach to drive now. Almost like a grown up car in fact, gone is that horrible pogo effect that everyone knows about, although I did secretly doubt that this was possible even with the voices of experience telling me it would be so. Yes it still crashes over pot holes but nowhere near as bad. I did shorten the rear bump stops as randysbits did, but I only cut off the very bottom of the base rubber as mine has not lowered as much due to the weight loss. The ride is smooth and compliant, cornering is almost flat, wheels stay in contact with the road so nowhere near as much wheelspin, I am chuffed to bits!

Thanks to randysbits for above confirmation on part no. for kit - that saved me a Sunday afternoon.

I very nearly put KW coilovers on but I am so pleased I went with this set up. Thanks also to TDQ who convinced me not to go with the KW's

I will be doing some detailing on the Panda this weekend, so will pop some pics on.

Finally, bought some Eibach 5.81250K camber bolts - they wont fit - the "cam" part wont go through the strut! Anyone used any other part numbers - this is the part number from Eibach! :(

I would just chang the springs and kept the original dampers / shocks if i needed to.. I've had no problems with the handle-ing etc..

Nothing wrong with how the 100HP handles on our roads esp when i've driven lowered cars for the last 10 years. Bouncing in the seat is part of the fun.

I disagree, if a car bounces like the 100hp it isn't good and if you have loaded up a 100hp at 60mph+ through a long corner you get the diagonal pitching which is very disconcerting.

If you are bouncing in the seat that does not equal good handling. It is not any fun either!

I would say if you have had no problems with the handling then you probably haven't driven it hard enough.

The car is badly underdamped, especially so on the rear. It would seem putting Koni dampers even just on the rear solves the problem. If I still had my car I would do at least this. (y)
 
I totally agree with TDQ - where the pogo effect was just irritating I felt the diagonal pitching was the most disconcerting of all the little cars handling characteristics.
This still happens to some extent because as the ride and handling improve you tend to push it more.
I intend to alter the settings of the Konis, starting at the rear, but I feel that the improvement gained by fitting these dampers is easily worth the cost.
 
If anyone would like to find out how much the Koni rears improves the car without forking out for a new set, mine are on the classified section of the forum. Unfortunately the Panda just isn't working out as our main family car so is getting chopped in for something more sensible.
 
I've finally got round to ordering a pair of Konis for the rear of the 100HP. I've been assured they'll arrive in time to be fitted before we go to Italy for about three months - keeping the standard springs, partly to retain ground clearance as we live up a white road in Umbria. I'll probably go for the fronts as well when we get back but I don't want to experiment too much on a long run. What's the consensus on rebound setting?

ive just done the same with eibach springs, hoping just having the rears on koni wont cause issues?
 
Dont think that you will have any problems, far from it the koni's make the biggest difference on the rear as thats where most of the bouncing is prominent due to the fact that there's barely any weight there.
The weight of the engine at the front acts as damping to a degree and is bearable.
I got the koni's fitted all round and the car is much better for it, i set the rears to three quarters of a turn up from softest after reading rturners post and they seem to work pretty well at that still firm but without the annoying pogoing.
Most of the time it is only me in the car so didn't want them to stiff.
 
Just taken my rear konis off this evening as the car goes tomorrow. I can confirm that the bouncing is back with avengence! Good reminder for me what a good mod rears only were.
 
Thanks to both the two previous posters - confirms what I thought about the back end - 3-4000 miles going to Italy and back should prove it one way or the other.

Putting the old ones back on was a real pain, much more awkward than fitting the Koni's. Looks like the Koni's are actually longer...I had to resort to jacking up the rear axle to be able to get the bolt back in the top eye.

Anyway, the Koni's are ready for you to collect tomorrow!

Taking 100HP to ABC Car Service of Leeds LS13 for the suspension camber setting up, and the tracking doing - when that is done I will start using the car and seeing what the best "number of turns" on the shockers is.
