Have a FIAT sticker in my windscreen saying my car was serviced in October 2009 at less than a thousand miles ago.(I bought the car 'used' from them a month ago)Just recently a 'Warning' light came on saying something like 'Service Coupon Expired' .Is there any way this can be simply removed by pressing buttons in a certain way like on VW group cars etc?A quick net check suggests this is a dealer only job.I rung the local Fiat service department and also mentioned the screching brakes and wondered if they had heard of 'special spacers/pads etc' to solve the problem and all he would keep repeating ("Computer says no" style) to me was "When would you like to book the car in for us to look at it?"Even less reassuringly he had never heard of Pandas having a screeching brakes issue...
Here in Ireland the Panda has a 4 year warranty ,I hope I wont have to deal with the dealer that much if this is an indicator of their customer support. From previous experience you end up wasting half a day leaving the car in ,returning hours later and often not having the job done right .In many cases you could have done it better yourself in under an hour.Eg Toyota main dealer asked to adjust clutch cable so that bite point is nearer the floor -return to find its OUT further!

If you bought it a month ago and it was done a month ago, shouldn't you be taking it back to the people that did the service ?

Theyre a bit far away and to be honest 'main dealers' are now in a category of places I do my utmost to avoid like Hospitals and Police Stations...Surely Cy if you had a choice between ,say,(as a hypothetical example-it WONT work))holding down the trip computer button for 5 seconds and then pressing the up arrow and then the select button youd do that rather than waste an hour if not a half day faffing around with them ...Some dealer service departments are genuinely clued in but many arent ...

Well if it was a case of all the servicing had been done correctly, everything checked, all the levels where were they should be etc and it was only some bizzare glitch that means the light came on.. then yes I'd go for a reset (probably won't work - like pressing down and holding the clutch and brake pedal, then turning the ignition to start the car... its something like that on my works van)..

but I'd have to be sure that there wasn't another reason for it.. like they hadn't serviced it at all... the brain was going.. something wasn't right etc..

Yeah it was a 'text message' -on the dashboard screen- not my mobile phone!Anyway sods law dictated that I was forced to take the car back when sump needed replacing after hitting a rock 'hidden' in a row of slush (big part in my not feeling the 100hp love lately I guess)Luckily I pulled in and turned off engine within seconds ...Fuming I was and didnt feel any better after waiting on side of snowy road for 3 hours for AA to arrive ...I have damaged 7 separate cars on a ten mile stretch of roads with several quarries due to rocks dropped off the back of lorries ...MX5 sump also pierced (engine luckily not damaged again !) Once damaged a car's headlight , bumper ,bonnet, AND roof all with the one apple sized rock that fell off a lorry driving in front of me up a steep hill....It kept bouncing back up the road and coming back down hitting me each time I hit it ...very lucky it didnt come through windscreen at me ...
...ah well there cant be many 100hps that have had 4 oil changes before 15k miles...
