General Mp3 player connection

General Mp3 player connection

Just made the MP3 player connection myself and it does work well - much better than using an FM transmitter - even the Pace DAB radio that I was using before.

A few extra notes may help:

The Blaupunkt Audio in adaptor cable from Radio World on Amazon is a little short and only just comes out near the cup holder. I've bought a headphones extender cable to make the link to my iPhone a bit easier.

It's relatively easy to cut up this adapter with a craft knife so that it can used with the existing yellow plug but be careful not to damage the spades.

Feeding the cable down to below the gearstick is a bit tricky. First of all loosen the plastic panel underneath the gear stick, you'll need a T27 type screw driver; I got a kit from Halfords for £7.99.

Then find the route with a semi stiff rod of some sort, I used one of those bendy grabbers, which came out at the top left of the loosened panel. Then feed the cable back up to the radio aperture.

Then feed this cable through the back of the radio mounting bracket, so that the HU will return easily.

Then make the connections; the diagram on the back of the radio is for the radio itself not for the yellow connector. The Radio World cables are black (central, earth), red (top, right channel) and white (bottom, left channel). The spades will simply click into place. Make sure you get this right otherwise it means getting a new connector altogether!

Then pull the cable from the bottom, to where you want it to come out, slide the radio back into place and refix the the interior plastic panel.

Go to Aux on the CD button to play music directly from any MP3 source.

.... provided you've for an AUX option via the CD button in the first place. If you haven't, then none of this time-consuming wiring effort will help! I found out the painful way and just bought a better HU with streaming Bluetooth for the best of all worlds (even Yoda's TomTom commands come over loud and clear...).

So best check first....

So I want to check if our car can do this mod. But I cant see the 'CD button'???

The main buttons I see on my display our 'meanu, audio, pty, source and band'

Which button do I need to press to find out if this mod is possible or do I need to have the front off the radio.

Its a 2005 panda 1.2 DYNAMIC

it looks like this. My only problem is I'm away from the car and when I get home we will be going on a road trip.

On more recent models the CD button is where yours has Band. However, AUX is a sub option to CD, so whichever you use to switch between CD and RADIO should toggle via AUX, if it's available. I suspect it isn't though, 'cos you'd probably have found it already....

Thats not good new, my girlfriend did not find 'AUX' setting

Not sure what to go foe now?? Fm transmitter/ new radio (not keen) or find a newer pander one.

Definitely no way to connect the 5mm stereo jack up a via the CD or something..??

Just buy a "double DIN to Single DIN+cubby hole" adapter plate (about £20) and a simple, single DIN head unit - both from Halfords - for less than £100. You'll get every flavour of connection going (USB, streaming bluetooth, 3.5mm jack) and a higher quality unit overall. I gave up trying to make the AUX thing work - and even bought another Panda radio/CD out of a 100HP in an attempt to find the elusive connection, plus a multitude of adapter blocks - all in vein/

In the end I bought a Sony HU and the best bit about it ironically is the A2DP Streaming Bluetooth facility, which allows me to play music from iTunes on my iPhone without wires at all.
