is the sei really faster than the 100hp??
Oh yeah, Kristians Sei and ours with the 1368cc 6 speed box would be a fair bit quicker than a 100HP. Even with mild mods, the cars benefit from a weight advantage of about 250kgs. K recently got a sub 8 sec 0-60 (7.64ish IIRC) time using my AP22 Data logger, we have recored a low 8sec with 2 people up and nothing removed from car, takes some practice to launch them though as easy to get massive wheel spin.
The 100HP is not that quick, in fact I would go so far as to say the quoted figures for the 500 Sport with same engine/box combo are nearer true.
What can be added to this since that article was published was the remap on the Ignis was found to be not what was claimed, an Ignis Sport owner had an issue with his ECU so got one 2nd hand and sent his ECU back to Chipped UK to be repaired, on getting it back still "remapped" he decided to run back to back comparisons on the rolling road at his new place of employment, the name escapes me now, but it was found on standard ECU car made 116bhp (manufacturer claims 109bhp in UK but in Japan 116bhp is claimed output) and the "remapped" one..... 114bhp! R/R operator also commented on it over-fuelling all over the place compared to standard one. There have been some peple trying to get full refuns in light of this, but I didn't follow progress so not sure what happened after trading standards got involved. So although article claims Ignis has 130bhp take that with pinch of salt, it will be nearer manufacturer claim.
I know these things always open up debate, but thus far I think its only article I have come across where someone has actually strapped proper timing equipment on one of these cars, and as the article rightly points out, its not about outright pace, but fun to drive, so please read it with that thought and not someone who is trying to put down a cool car

Panda 100HP V's Suzuki Ignis Sport, Ford Ka, Smart for2 & MINI One.
The whole article is written well and the premise of it is this, so many hot hatches now have 200bhp + and massive amounts of grip, meaning that to actually drive the car to the edge of its talents can only be achieved on a track. So the new wave of warm hatches with less power and grip but meaning that in fun terms means you get much more as you get to drive them closer to there limits on public roads. The choices then buy a new Panda for 10K or save a bit and buy a 2nd hand car and maybe spend a little on performance modifications bring you back to the 10K or under mark.
The editor of the mag said in his first word bit "I think all of us have experienced the joy of driving something that's hugely underpowered at its very limits on the road. I started out in a Cinquecento Sporting, and you had to be on the redline everywhere just to make any progress! It may not have been fast in outright terms, but as an entertaining thing to bomb about in, it felt pretty peerless at the time."
