Went back to the dealers today and signed on the dotted.....should pick her up next Wednesday.

Went for Pasodoble Red in the end - Mjet Dynamic + Aircon Pack, pre reg with 25 miles on the clock for just over the Fiatsupersaver price (for the same model) which I didnt think was too bad for a main dealer (took a bit of haggling;))

Did notice though that the front headrests are padded - is that normal or does it mean it has some other 'pack' on it that I'm not aware of? (Padded Headrest pack:rolleyes:)

Can wait to pick it up and start sipping fuel....

Thanks for all your advice and support in leading up to the decision (y)

You might be very lucky... My padded headrests came with my sliding rear seat...

Congrats :D Went out in a MJ last weekend and was impressed how refined it was for a diesel. Can't help on the padded heat rests - I thought they were all padded?

Thanks folks, couple of more questions actually.....

How should I run the car when I get it - do modern diesels need running in as such or should it be driven hard from the start?

What fuel brand do you guys use - also do you use the 'premium' or 'standard' stuff?

Are the roof bars purely cosmetic or do they actually hold things?

What would be a good cheap(ish) wax to use on the car fom new to put a good seal on it? Dont mind spending up to £30 say for a decent one.

Ive turned down the 'Supaguard' option as I'm always a bit sceptical of this sort of stuff and I quite enjoy giving my cars a good polish now and then anyway.

Thanks again(y)

Ian.

- Don't bother running in - just keep an eye on the oil level.
- standard fuel ("premium" diesel is snake oil imho and you're better off adding Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 to normal diesel)
- roof bars are functional afaik
- Collinite 476S (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/shop/wax/collinite-no-476s/p_207.html) is my choice - just don't apply it too thick or it'll take you days to buff it off  If you follow the instructions it'll only take an hour or so :D

Ian.

I would have liked pasodoble red. Apart from the colour mine is the same spec as yours.

Don't worry about running it in. I didn't go much over 3K rpm for the first 150miles, but I was redlining it by about 600miles on a regular basis. They don't need running in, the sooner you loosen them up the better.

Just drive it fairly hard from the start.

Mine has never used a drop of oil.

Just use regular diesel.

Never dried my MJ let alone waxed it!

You'd need to buy roof bars that go across the roof transversely i guess to actually use them, though i guess if you had a wide enough load you could tie it direct to the roof bars. They can take a load of 50kg and are fairly substantial, though i do admit i can't see myself ever using them to carry anything.

The only colours I really like apart from red are the New Orleans blue and Cumbia Beige (yours I think?). I had a Stilo for a short time in 'Glam Sand' which was very similar and although I dont it worked so well on that bigger car I think it works great with the chunky, urban look of the Panda.

Ian.

No worries, don't feel i gave a lot of advice really.

I ended up with Cumbia beige as the dealer had it on order and it meant i only had to wait a week. My preference would have been pasodoble red, simply because i love red cars.

Kind of wish i had ordered the alloys, they were a £375 option I think.
