(T) 100HP - premature coil failure

Yep, as above - happened today!!?

Having owned a Stilo, I knew exactly what the problem was - yet never expected it on a car that is 9 months old, with only 11800 miles on the clock.

All credit to Northampton Motorvogue though - I limped the car the few miles to there, and they got it on Examiner [even though the workshop was full] to tell me it was a coil BUT the part won't be in until Tuesday...

...and no courtesy cars, so they sorted one out off the forecourt, a 1.2 Dynamic - oh, and at no cost to me

Also decided to book it in for the 12k mile service as well - they do a pick up and drop off service, so hassle free

Anyone else had coil issues though? I was taken back, and the car had been faultless up until now [bar inner tyre wear ]

Let's hope it's just a one off bad coilpack, not the start of a catalogue of similar failures! And nice to see something positive about a dealer for a change.

Do you know if FIAT are still fitting the dodgy Sagem coilpacks fitted to the earl Stilos? Must admit, I was lucky; I never needed to replace one on my Stilo in four years of ownership...

Remember, Saturday skeleton staff - the service girl just wanted to get a car sorted for me, so spoke to someone in sales. I was just thankful to get a car.

Don't mind courtesy car actually, got to do some mileage on Sunday, hah, and with mine being close to service limits, etc.

showroom car would have 1 or 2 miles on it,as good as new & better than car of the road for 4 days.What if customer lived 70 miles from garage?

Got my car back yesterday, all sorted plus I got the 12k service done.

They said it was their first coil they had seen go on this car, very unusual. Also first year service cost me £113+VAT.

Why couldn't all the tecnincal staff in fiat dealers be as helpful and knowledgable as you? . The guy in my local dealer is a numpty .
