Hi All,

Following the cambelt being changed I would like to check the coolant level in case it has dropped following any air escaping.

Do you have any tips on how to read the actual level. Seems very hard to see, have tried shining a light down there to no avail.

Thanks

Maybe sit on something comfortable, look under and shine a torch upwards. I've had 2 1.2's. The level is obvious when looking at the correct angle (I did get a good look once, probably cleaning up screen wash at the time). There is a way of taking the cap off too. Learnt with my 2004 car as always needed topping up.

So, what's the technique for getting the cap off?
Mine is on tight and don't want to break it

With the engine cold, press down on the cap as you turn it.

If there is any residual pressure in the system (unlikely if it's properly cold), you could also try opening the bleed screw to release it - but note the bleed screw is even more fragile than the expansion reservoir cap.

Think you squeeze the cap on horizontal edges then turn anti clockwise. My Twin Air doesn't use any coolant so haven't tried removing one in years. Instruction in handbook how learnt to remove I think.

Simples - wait till it's dark-ish, place a small LED torch against the coolant tank below the level of the fluid and the pink Paraflu level will be screamingly obvious.
