They got what they deserved. Cars were terrible and thats all there is to it. You can’t think about a car company like a person and pity it.

My favourite Rover was the SD1. I know there are lots of reasons why it wasn't a great car (much of those were quality related). But I just love that shape. As a police car it was unbelievably cool. I tried to persuade my parents to get one but they got a Sierra instead.

Yep, they were cool ? . In hindsight never saw one without a panel out of line.... I am a designer, must have heartbreaking to work where the workforce did not give a s#
Or rather, the short sighted trade unionists anyway...

Hi.
I had two 75s including the slated K series 1.8 to be fair it was a small engine for the cars bulk but contrary to belief it was reliable and economic. They were fine for a car buff but no good for people that never open the bonnet. Even the radiator required a degree in physics to check the coolant, not good when a K series engine is installed

The Vitesse was the one I wanted them to get. I remember seeing one in the showroom. They went for the far more sensible (and likely more reliable) Ford Sierra 2 litre Ghia. The latter was one of the first cars with a focus on optimum interior ergonomics.

Don't doubt next generation Panda will have a new engine one day. Current shape? No. The Fire engine will keep going am sure. A 3 cylinder 100bhp would be great in a new Panda 4x4 though.

Apparently production of all old engines (FIRE and TwinAir) will stop, Production of the new GSE-Firefly engines have started in Poland.
2018 will be the year of complet engine gamma replacement @ FCA.

I also think there is proof that TwiAir engine production has stopped, because in the Netherlands the Panda POP version was only available with the "NON" turbo TwinAir 2 cilinder engine and now of a sudden it is only available with the 1.2 FIRE.
Also the POP STAR version is no longer available with de NON turbo TwinAir.
