Hi all.
There's a plastic elbow joining the top of the breather pipe into the air filter housing, and it has a spigot for a small diameter tube, but no tube.
Can anyone help me as to what this missing tube connects to?
Also, anyone point me to exploded diagram type parts lists. Makes things a lot easier when trawling for NOS at dealers.
Ta, Chris

There is a tab marked ePER at the top of the page (if you are using the desktop view) which is the Fiat dealer parts system with diagrams.
Pipe is a little washer tube type that runs into the base of the throttle body if I remember right (goes to the base of the carb on pre injection cars anyway)

if you have the 999cc FIRE engine with carburetor the smaller diameter connector connects to the back of the carburetor.

follow the pipe that is on the distributor's vacuum advance actuator (the disc shaped thing) to the back of the carburetor, there will be another place to attach a pipe next to it. just add a length of something like fish tank air tubing (6mm) pipe from that to the connector on the air box.

it is not a vital pipe, however if you leave it open to atmosphere on the filter housing you can get a really strong fuel smell when the engine is running.

Thanks to you both for the pointers and info . Lucky enough not to have the petrol smell, and at least I know what goes where when the new Vac unit arrives - once I reorder, after being let down again - sorry to drift off topic for a second, but has anyone else been getting the run-around from parts suppliers (on ebay) who offer parts, which you buy, then they refund you saying they are sorry but don't have what they offered? Seems bizarre. I am no huge lover of ebay, btw, but when parts are scarce; needs must, eh?

Typical. This is my airbox type, and of course, it's facing the wrong way(!) to see the pipe/box interface. Let's see if my pic of my airbox gets uploaded...the pipe in question attaches to the elbow you see at the end of the red-taped main breather pipe.

Thanks Lukmek, but mine looks nothing like that at all! I'm going to try take some pics and see if my keyboard skills are up to uploading stuff.

Ok
Let me know with a pic
I could source the part for you on eBay.it if it's cheaper
