Hello guys, i began work on my little project and wanted to share with you.
I had a uno turbo mk1, liked it, raced it ...wanted more..soo i came up with the idea of using the 1.3 uno engine on the panda( the uno shell was rubbish). Then after long hours of internet search came up with the idea of using the bigger, more powerfull 1.4 engine from a GT1 punto gt 136 bhp.

I got my self a 750L panda, then sold the uno, bought a gt1 punto gt ...and a few days ago i started work.

Got the panda engine out in 1 day( few hours of actual work), started on the punto and almost got it out today..it sits now on the engine mounts..but nothing else is attached to it...1 more day and it's out.

while still on the car i did a compression test on the punto and came up a reassuring 150-160 psi on every cilinder

i intend to complete the swap, start engine on panda, sort out the suspension/ driveshafts problems, test drive it and then add some parts for a stage 2 setup:

bigger FMIC
fiat x1/9 camshaft
63mm exhaust
55mm intake pipes
55mm throttle body
c20 let injectors 305cc
TD05H-12B turbo from a 2000 V6 alfa
MS2 with launch control, boost control, FFS, shift light
BOV
Walbro 255l/h fuel pump
all the gauges i need for safety( oil pres/temp, water temp, afr..)
and i really want to use the mk1 uno dashboard ..whits i saw in a panda from danemark..fits :)

this setup should give me more than 200bhp...

Its lovely to see projects like this. It shows that the Panda is attracting wider attention outside the hardcore cabal of enthusiasts. Out of curiosity why did you say the Uno shell was rubbish. Was it just corrosion or is the Panda more rigid?

:yeahthat: X 2.

You're gonna have to do some drastic work on the suspension and brakes to keep that one on the road, but it sounds like you know what you are doing.

I too will be watching with interest. (y)

Schweeeet! Looks like a fun project, and should have good power to weight as well. I'll keep an eye on this one; might need to to move into the members motors section though.

Good luck with all the work!

Si
the uno turbo has good power to weight ratio...the panda should have demential power to weight ratio :)

my uno shell was rubbish ..just full of holes ...otherwise the uno is ok for a project

the suspention and brakes will be a combination of panda/uno T and punto gt...i have all parts at my disposal..will see what fits best. :)

do any of you guys know the exact weight of a panda 750 ?

this sounds awesome. gonna be folowing this thread with interest. :slayer:
what are you doing with the gearbox? thats alot of power for the little old FIRE 4/5 speed box.

I will use the punto gearbox aswell. not sure but don't think the panda gearbox fits the punto engine block. anyway the power would surely destroy the panda gearbox

yea i think someone on here had a punto 1.2 with a panda box because the punto box is harder to fit due to the control rods and the custom mount thats needed for it.

Not sure of exact weight but I know my Marbella is around 770kg with a slightly fatter engine in it too. I must weight it again actually, it's had a few mods since I did it last :D I imagine that your 750 weighs around 750kg as an educated guess  You could try what I did to weigh it, and buy 6 bathroom scales lol (but be prepared for some odd looks in B&Q!!).

i found many answers on the internet anywere from 680kg to 800 kg..wanted something a little bit more accurate

Today we took out the punto engine and gearbox. Next thing get rid of the power steering pump and other things not needed on the engine, strip the engine to make it as slim as possible for the next stage...building the engine mounts..on the panda.
