Evening All

I've not posted anything for ages, but I've been checking in often to see what's happening. I've been meaning to post an update with what I've been upto on him for ages, it's been hurried along by a problem...

For the last week the little fella's not always been starting perfectly and whilst driving every so often would momentarily loose a bit of power, but it would then be back.

After spending some of this morning under him changing an inner drive shaft boot (tiny leak for a while, got it up on pit to look for leak, touched boot and it ripped straight open), I was driving home from work this evening and the loss of power thing happened a lot worse. The engine seemed as though I was taking my foot off the accelerator, it did this a couple of times, springing back to life between until it stopped completely. The engine then died, turning the key started the engine for a few seconds but not for long.

Please can somebody tell me that I just need to give the earth a clean and it will be right as rain....

Or failing that any ideas on likely solutions welcome.

Recently I've been towing a trailer around a bit, if that's part of the cause?

I'll give a bit more of an update to what I've been up to on the car later on.

Cheers

Conor

Most likely the electronic module thingy if it happens when hot. They are a bl**dy pain in the neck on the 4x4 Sisleys. It's the little square box on the dizzy. Cost about £40 from a factor, but I've got a couple in reserve at about £20 if you can't find one easily (it was such a pain last time with a duff new one too, that I pick them up if I see one going cheap!).

If it's that it will keep getting worse until the car dies when reaching operating temperature & won't restart until it cools down again. Mine led up to this with cutting out, backfiring, etc - if I understand it right it controls the spark so you don't get one when it goes screwy.

Maybe something to look at anyway. Hope this helps (y)

Evening

Thank's for those replies. The fuel pump seems to be working without a problem, although the fuel that came out appeared to be a little bit contaminated with water possibly - would a little water affect it that much? I'll have a look at the jar tomorrow to see if it's all separated into layers and see if there was much.

I've cleaned the connections on the electronic module bit with no success and have ordered a new one. Hopefully it is that or it's a waste of money! Really need to get around to having a 'parts' car to use bits from, it'd save so much time!

I've ordered some new spark plugs because they where looking a bit worn out. If anyone has any ideas to check then please let me know.

Cheers

Conor
