Need help please.
We have a fiat palio weekender. When we drive
First gear gets stuck it wont go into first gear unless you switch off the car and pump the clutch then it will go in gear only first thats a problem. Sumtimes referse also struggles.
Please help

2001 model. 1.6 16V

Shift ass.outside, on top of the gearbox
Take bolt 3 out.
Clean 4+6 ( sandpaper) and lube ( Teflon grease) 2+4+6.
Assemble.
Ready.

It is hadrolic cluch not a cable

Strange, the Palio Mk1 1,6-16V until 2002 has a cable operated clutch, at least overhere in Europe...

That is strange. Dont know what te problem could be then

If it's hydraulic, did you bleed it already..?
Put new fluid in before of course...

You say you have to pump the clutch, that means that there's air in the system, OR the pump is broken...
Have a look at ePER on top of this page, if there's one or two pumps.

I know this is an old post. But let me add something here. I did a gearbox oil top up and removed the plastic breather cap on the top of the gearbox next to the selectors. After topping up I had no 1st or 2nd. I knew it had something to do with the plastic breather cap. So I disassembled the selector mechanism from the gearbox. Sure enough when I turned it over and inspected this. I found that the two clips which hold the breather cap on had broken off and got caught in the selectors preventing this from moving to 1st and 2nd gears.
