hey there!

I own a little palio 12 16v, car used to be a dream until a few weeks ago.
On a really hot day the car just cuts off (even while driving), wen i try to start it again it seems like the is no fuel, its back fires through the inlet, and sounds like it running on three cylinders, checked coils and injectors ect, and every thing seems to be fine, been through all fuses and relays and everything checked out fine, wat i did notice though that wen the car decides to act up, the fuel pump goes really silent you can hear it running but its not as loud as it normally is, iv changed the pump and it still does it. the only thing that seems to solve the problem is for me to wait on the side of the road for like half an hour and then start and it runs fine..this only happens on a really hot day and if the car is driven hard for a long period of time(i have a extremly heavy right foot :) )...can anyone help please!!!!!!

It looks like the old fashioned "vapour lock".
Somewhere in the fuel lines, because of the heat, the fuel goes over into damp, and is blocking the fuel.
After cooling down, damp is returned to fuel, and car runs like before.
How is the condition of the fuel filter?
It needs to be replaced real soon, after about 10.000mls (15.000km).

I thought about that, and have changed my filter.
also checked the breather on the fuel tank and that also seems to be fine.
there is only one filter right?? under the tank

really disheartend wit this car, first fiat i owned thats giving me problems, now i think my cam tensioner is on its way out, lol driving this car abit too hard!

My Palio Blue did the same. They replaced the phonic wheel and the problem stopped.
