Hi all,

I have recently brought a Grande Punto 1.6 MultiJet on coilovers which have seized up and need replacing. I am looking to buy some standard suspension however I dont know what to buy. Does the standard 1.2, 1.4 and 1.9 suspension fit the 1.6?

Thanks in advance.

A lot of aftermarket sites list 1.4, 1.6 and 1.9 as the same part, the most important thing is the spring rate for the weight of car/ critically the front end, as the difference will be in the ability to settle the ride for the correct engine weight. They will all fit in am sure but they won't all work. You are also in the same boat as me, I have a 1.6 GP and as far as literature, eper, workshop manuals etc we are outcasts lol. My local autofactors will happily tolerate me if they are not busy, and most sites like ECP are now all registration specific so you may be able to do some cross referencing on there, look on eBay and you can get some substitute registrations to run comparisons for parts.

IMG_4032.JPGIMG_4033.JPG excellent value as ever and listed specifically for 1.6jtd the also have the mounts etc

If it helps to expand your choice i have Punto suspension on my 1.6 Corsa D so parts from both cars fit each other.

You should match the engine weight as close as you can.

I don't know much about the 1.6 in the Punto but if its like the Corsa (turbo) you can mix 1.6 and 1.9 diesels springs due to the engines being similar weights.

Putting 1.2/1.4 springs on the 1.6 would not be a good idea though.

I guess he means the adjusters so he can't adjust the height, or he just wants a standard car for insurance purposes.

If recently purchased privately, ask the seller if he still has the original stuff. Might be loitering in his shed/garage and available for free. Might need to replace top mounts, or just the shocks, but a good base to start from.
