Hi my name is Dave, & I have just joined the forum.

I need HELP!!!!!!!

I have a 2004 Fiat Doblo 1.9 JTD cargo van, this morning switched ignition on , a symbol came on dash yellow car & padlock and will not turn over.

Never had this before don't know what to do can anyone help me please.

Thank you

Dave.

The symbol is to tell you the ECU either cannot read the electronic chip embedded in your key or doesn't recognise the code in the electronic chip as authorised to start car.
As suggested try spare key if you have one and keep your fingers crossed that works.

Also if you have more than one car key on key ring the ECU may get confused between the chips in the keys , so just have one car key on key ring.

Thank you for replying.Have tried all you have said but nothing works.
In handbook it says about emergency start up, but I do not have the code to complete this.

You will need to speak with a fiat dealer and pay for the security code .

You will then have to decide how you want to go from there.

Maybe get fiat dealer to sort it for you .

It could be ECU needs reprogramming to the keys , or could be antenna loop near ignition lock needs replacing and reprograming. Which requires the 5 digit security code.

Do you have breakdown cover?

Where are you based?
Someone may be able to recommend place to go.

Thank you again. I am based in St Austell Cornwall. Think it may be asking for code.

Read thread titled

Another immobiliser issue

Similar to your problem

Thanks again. Have read through & although I do not have the code, I thought I would do an emergency start. I followed what the handbook said, but it stated now take your foot off the pedal & count the flashes but nothing happened, no flashing of lights anywhere. It is just a mystery how it worked to evening before, but not the next morning. all lights come on when I turn the ignition, but refuses to turn over.

You have to have the code to do an emergency start.
You have to get the code from a fiat dealer.
When you have the code you can do an emergency start and drive it to a dealer.
Or if you have breakdown cover have it towed to a fiat dealer.

Does the yellow padlock symbol come on few second when key on then go out?

When my immobiliser is working engine does turn over but will not start. I would start checking the negative battery lead connection at the gearbox or whatever end. That could explain sudden onset problem.

The yellow lock symbol comes on and then goes out is normal.
If the yellow lock symbol stays on then the immobilizer isn't turning off.
You sent me private message saying yellow lock goes out after a few seconds. You are very lucky it looks like your immobiliser is working correctly.
You probably have another fault.
Check battery connectors, earth leads , possibly starter motor.
A local garage or break down service , if you a member, should be able to deal with this.
Good luck.
Let us know how you get on.

Had a similar problem recently and the AA solved this with an additional earth lead from the engine block to the bulk head.(y)
