Not been on for bit,i am restoring my mk1 sporting, have had it for 2 yrs now, spent so far £1500 on it new exhaust, brake system etc,it failed on emmisions and was adviced to have a full service done, which i took to a local garage to do it passed its m.o.t.Problem i having at min is high revs,so i think my throttle body could be dirty.I put redex into fuel tank to see if that clean the injector if it was dirty, that was a week ago,no change.I have read up on how to clean the throttle head, but dont know what spray to use.Can anyone advice me what i need and where i can buy it.Thanks.:bang:

thanks i will try it.Just got bit confused cos looked it up how to clean throttle body, some saying use tooth brush but watch dont scratch the inside.Dont use some cleaners etc,so thanks.

was nice day yesterday so i cleaned the throttle head,i was bit scared doing it but you dont see many 53 year old women under the bonnet. It was filthy.Checked all pipes for air leaks, none as all pipes i renewed last year.Put it back together rev idle was still high and bouncing about so this morning i read up and decided to reset the ECU.This is what i did.
1) disconnected battery for 45 mins.
2)reconnected the battery and turned ignition to MAR for 90 secs.
3)turn off and leave for 90 secs.
4)started engine without pressing throttle and let car idle for 15 mins.
5)turn engine off and leave for 10 mins.
6)start the car go for a drive,using a number of styles ( town,motorway,thrash )
To my delight the old car is running a lot better and no rev sticking nor high revs at low speed,so i think i sorted that problem.Next job is an ECU reading, and see what comes up.Then cam belt change but get garage to do that lol,I,ll have this punto sporting baby running like new one day,i hope.
