Hi all, sorry if this is the wrong area to post!
So i have a Fiat Siecento (first car) and it has been great since I've had it.
I took it for the MOT last week (and passed) and on the way home it broke down.

What seems to be happening is overheating and the engine is cutting out. If it is left for a few minutes it will start again but repeat the overheating and cutting out continuously.
However the fans are working perfectly fine and i don't think the car is actually over heating.

On the diagnostic computer the error P0115 is coming up which apparently means water temperature sensor so we replaced it for a new one- however, the problem is still happening.

it runs slightly longer than it did before changing the sensor however it is still cutting out repeatedly.

We think there might be 2 sensors but can only find one. Maybe a cam pulley sensor?

Anyone experienced this & managed to fix it?

All help is appreciated.
Thanks.

hi,
and welcome to FF,
when you say it's cutting out,
BUT not overheating,
1st - check the coolant level.. if it's gone LOW then you may well have typical headgasket failure,
LOTS of MOT stations leave the car running / idling for long periods,
if your cars cooling system is compromised.. this could well have finished it off,

check the coolant leve,
remove the rubber bung . oil filler and clean it,
also check the engine oil level,
then let us know what you find HERE;

BUT tech info is better in this thread..,

Welcome to the forum :)

What year is your car as this will help to identify what sensors it has and where they are, and how they relate to the cooling system. The earlier SPI cars were driven from a switch in the radiator, whereas the newer MPI cars are controlled by the ECU.

Is the radiator fan coming on when it overheats? How do you know it is overheating?

Still, cutting out and overheating are not usually related unless you insist on driving the car with the temperature warning light on.

If it overheats in traffic/stop go check that the fan works. If not, check the maxi fuses behind the battery.

Get back.
