Hi people, i really need some advice so let me start....

Ive currently got a yaris 1L 51 plate with 66k on the clock but certain things have gone wrong so i thought id upgrade (within a budget) So basically ive seen a Stilo 1.2 16v Active 03 plate with 96k on the clock within my budget, ive been to see it and its in near perfect condition but the only thing that worries me is the mileage. Its runs brilliantly but as of yet i havent test driven it yet. Anything i need to look for or should i just avoid..

when i get 5 posts i'll post the autotrader link,

cheers guys and hi again!

the 1.2 is a bombproof engine... if its got service history youll be good to go. budget to put a cambelt in unless there is history stating otherwise (should have been done about 72000mi/5years) likewise with the clutch.

I echo richydrapers points . (If the cambelt was changed at 5 years its going to need another soon !) Also check its got springcatchers fitted too. Look to see the drivers seatbelt is not cut by the lifting lever too. I got 160K out of my 1.2 and its still going 3 years after I sold it.

About three months ago I took on a 53 plate 1.6 Stilo with over 90k on the clock. It had a few things I had to correct, mostly due to lack of maintenance, but it runs pretty well with no major concerns. Now I've got to know it I would trust it to go anywhere.

Even if there were problems, it wouldnt be anything like as costly as a 1.6. We had a 1.2 and the gearbox went - it can take a gearbox from a Punto. A recon gearbox for the 1.6 is at least £900 - I have the receipts:(
