hi i cant get 1st or reverse gears without turning off engine, i have bleed the clutch using an eezibleed 5 times with the same result i have around 40-50mm travel on the clutch pedal until i feel resistance from the clutch so my thought is that its losing pressure for the first 40mm of travel so has the pedal got to be up or down when bleeding because i have been bleeding it with pedal down, i have also been opening bleed nipple on the bulkhead and slave cylinder.
ANY HELP APPRECIATED THANKS:confused::confused:

forgot to mention i have had the gearbox out and clutch and bearing are ok

I have not had to do this particular job but I've done just about everything else on my multipla!!
I remember reading that it's actually very hard to bleed the multipla clutch... the consensus seems to be that it's much easier if you do pointed up a hill.

What's with all this breaker yard crap on here ???

Anyway I have responded to your PM

Just to clarify the front does not need to be raised....the left side of the car needs to be raised to amplify the high spot at the top bleed nipple and to encourage air stuck at the base of the master cylinder up.

thanks for the pm glowplug,
history is i drove the car back home as i only just got it and although i could get gears and it drove without any issues ie clutch slipping or gears crunching the clutch pedal was very very stiff so i lubricated the clutch fork but no change ,
so i put it on axle stands and bleed the clutch but since i have only had this trouble thats why im seeking help, the car is on 2 axle stands so i will remove 1 and see if that helps helps bleeding

When lubricating that clutch fork you need to apply WD40 liberally to the base of the fork whilst someone is pumping. As per my email to you there is no easy fix for these clutches. You have to be methodical, patient and persistent otherwise they will defeat you.

There is a return spring in clutch master cylinder , it pushes piston back to start position when pedal released.
If it breaks it will cause symptoms you describe.
To check, disconnect push rod from pedal , the push rod directly contacts piston so shouldn't just slide into master cylinder if gently pushed.
