Multipla n/side suspension knock ???

My first thought (given all the parts you've replaced), would be that it's not suspension related.

I'd check the exhaust first.
As it's mounted on flexible fittings, it can sometimes move enough to knock against something, particularly if one of the mountings is worn/loose/damaged/missing.
Also check any heat-shields that are fitted.

Next I'd check the Engine and Gearbox mountings, they're a known weak-point. The Alloy housings corrode, and eventually just fall apart.
At least one guy on here has had one fail, it wrecked a driveshaft (and possibly the gearbox) if I recall correctly.

You mentioned the Shock-Struts, check the top mount under the Bonnet, my original Multi's were worn, looked like mice had been at the Rubber parts.
Check them with it on it's wheels, then jack it up on the Subframe so the wheel's hanging free, and check again.
While it's jacked, put a long piece of wood under the tyre and lever it up, see if the top mount moves.

Other than that, it's just a question of getting underneath and trying to rattle anything you can get your hand(s) to.

Good luck.

Re: Multipla n/side suspension knock ???

Mine was doing that and I changed the top shock mounts, bit of a pain to do but it cured it.

I had exactly the same issue with mine a couple of years ago. Had new ARB bushes and nearside wishbone and drop link done for MOT but still had the noise. A few weeks after the MOT a front coil spring broke, as the car still had the original shock absorbers from new I decided to replace these along with the springs.

When I picked the car up the mechanic had found that the inner shaft of the n/s shock absorber was wiggling around inside the main body and it was this that was causing the knocking. The problem was that the shock was not leaking in any way at all so never came to notice on an MOT. It was like driving a new car when it was all done!

This type of component failure is very hard to diagnose until replacement, and of course new front shocks and coils are expensive to have fitted. If you're still on your original shocks it might be the n/s one on the way out

yes thanks for your replys lads im thinking it could be a top strut mount , it knocks when going over a speed ramp or hitting a rut in the road but its smooth on ok roads ?? is the top strut mount straight forward to change , also im getting a click like noise when pulling away from a standstill , theres no play in cv etc , its becoming annoyin lol :bang:
any info is much appreciated gaz

yep thanks it makes sense what your saying about the shock worn but not leaking which could cause the knock , maybe i should just bite the bullet and save me pennies for a comlete rebuild on the front , at least i would find the cause in the end , thanks again for all your help its appreciated..regards gary

Multipla suspension knock ???

Knowing my luck, if I totally silenced the front end, I'd find that it had been masking a load of noise from the rear . . .

ultipla suspension knock ???

So, put my new R/H front Spring on today.
Replaced the left one last week, after it broke while replacing the Strut Top Mounts, it's Sod's Law I'd already done the R/H one!

Last Month I found a broken ARB Link while doing my Brakes, since fitting new ones, I've noticed a knocking.
Most noticeable on smooth Roads at low speeds, oddly.

Probably ARB Bushes, they are a little worn, but no real 'slop' in them as far as I can determine.
Decided to video it today.
Need to do it again with the Camera slightly higher, but it's interesting nonetheless.
Do you reckon the movement in the A-Arm rear Bush is 'normal'?
