Ive owned a Multipla 1.9JTD for 2 years now but within the last 6 months Ive noticed a rather nice ( Flash and Wave to Aknowledge ) occurance from other Multipla owners which I quite like! Anyone else noticed it?

At first I thought "Ah warning me of mobile speed trap ahead!" but no...just being friendly...

I got one today in the middle of Formby. It shocked me at first because I don't know anyone else who has one. It dawned on me halfway down the motorway.

Harley/Goldwing owners do the same.

I am making it a point from now on to flash and wave at every Multi I see.

Flashers!

I do this. I know it's sad.

Wasn't me in Formby though.

Used to do this when I had a 2CV.

I think the multipla is the nerest thing to a modern version of a 2CV, we used to have a green 2CV and I always remember people flashing their lights and waving at us as we putted past.

Yeah man, we are the new friendly kings of the road.

Like all ugly cars (beautiful in my opinion), they attract the right sort of people.

My wife used to have a Morris Minor, and you get the same thing.

i've had our multipla 5years and waved from day one,kids love it (aged 3&6)
still pisses merc/bmw drivers off when overtaking them on motorway!!!
funny how if i had enough for a second car i'd like a 2cv ?

Hi all,

I have had my Multi for six weeks now and I flash my lights and wave to every Multi I see. Other Multi owners beat me to it sometimes and flash me first, and we pass each other with huge smiles on our faces. I think this is great.

My Multi gets better looking each day. I think they are great looking cars with real character, a break from the standard looking car of the day. Most other cars on the road seem to look alike in my opinion. The Multi sure is a cool looking car, an award winner times over.

Had our for five years now and we have always flashed other multi drivers. Seems to have caught on.

i have got a mk2 and most other owners wave at me but some don`t realise that its a multipla ........i work for a very large telecomms firm so i`m quite used to waving at other same firm drivers

if the flash in formby is merseyside and by a blue new shape its probably me.
i have found the longer the multis been out the less people are flashin if that makes sense.

Have had my Multi for five and a half years. Back in 2000 it was an extreme rarity to see another, but there was always a flash and a wave when we did. Still do it sometimes even now, and my two kids (7 and 11) still shout 'MULTIPLA!!' if we see another one. They were most upset when it was suggested that Frieda (the frog-eyed Fiat) might need to be replaced. But we bought a new Panda for the school run, and kept Frieda for days out and longer journeys.

i live in west wales and for our hols we went to cornwall for 5 days and on the way down counted 62 and all week counted 98 but only 5 were mk2`s

The mk2 is just a big Stilo, which is why I find it difficult to reconise as a multi. The back looks similar but the front is just another car.

I feel the high beams made it stand out and one of the reasons that it is such a great car. The visibility on unlit roads if fantastic with them in that postition.

My multi is a lime green 51 plate in Warrington (Cheshire). I'll give you a flash if I see a multi (and if i'm not daydreaming).

Flashing and waving is a phenomenon that I first experienced when I bought my old Mini a few years back. Most, if not all, Mini owners tend to flash and wave at each other.

I managed to resist the temptation to flash and wave at other BMW drivers when I got my 325 last year and I don't think I would do it to Marea drivers when Im in my Marea Weekend, but with a car a unique and full of character as the Multipla (Im sure this car will reach collectable classic status in a few years), it seems perfectly reasonable for owners to acknowledge each other!

Yep, been doing the flash and wave in my wifes car for over a year now. Takes me back to when I owned a Beetle

I don't get it

When I do drive one, it's the new style without the bump. However, whenever we went on holiday in the Multipla we got alot of flashes and waves. That was then it had just come out and jaws dropped as well as a wave..."OMG someone else has one!"

Porthmadog, N Wales last week. Multipla Owner Flashed and Waved as we met at pelican crossing. He too was with his family in identical Blue 1.9 JTD...appart from the abarth badges.
