Hi Ladies and Gents,
can anyone help my abs comes into operation in under very light braking its a little scarry to say the least.
I have had to remove the fuse to use it.
I have had the abs code read and it tells me p0005 valve relay????
Any ideas pleeeeeeeze.
Marc

I had this problem and it turned out to be that the wheel sensor was not centred correctly on the reluctor ring. This was after having changed the n/s swing arm.
Perhaps a check to see if there is a build up of brake dust and dirt around the sensors/reluctor rings and a good clean may do the trick.

Many thanks boss
was the problem on the actual wheel ie it seams one of my front wheels is the problem?

hi
there's a wire that goes to each wheel hub, looks like a miniature crank sensor
it picks up a signal from the rotation of the driveshaft ( probably a cut out that picks up a break in a magnetic field)
i know if you jack up a wheel and engage drive it sends an error to the ecu which shows the abs symbol because the ecu is sensing movement from one wheel and not all 4 at the same time.
the only downside with your abs light glowing is if you jump on the brakes u might lock up a wheel, if you have ever drove a car without abs you should be able to live with the light on as you can drive accordingly

It does seem that it is the front that is locking but I think you will find it may be a false impression you are getting as the ABS unit in the engine bay is 'pumping' the brakes.

If you have drums on the rear remove them and you will see at the rear of the wheel hub a plastic band, this is the reluctor ring. Carefully clean it and at the same time you will see a small black rectangular plastic device protruding through the back plate to the top right or left (depending on which side you are working) of the hub. This is the ABS sensor and should sit so that the tip is level with the outer edge of the reluctor ring and about 2/3mm above it. Carefully clean it.
If you have discs on the rear I would think they are similar to the fronts which are best cleaned by an high pressure airline with the jet directed in the vicinity of the bearing which has the ring attached.
