Hi, Just wondering if anyone can help or advise, on my fiat multipla, it is a 2000 X Reg JTD 1.9, ok, the car at the minute runs out of m.o.t in july, thats besides the point, i am getting it all sorted for getting my licence back in june, my stepfather gave me this car, as when it started this problem he could not be bothered and bought his self a brand new zavira, so here goes, The multipla starts up fine first turn of the key, but after a short drive, the multipla cuts out, and when you go to start it back up, it just turns and turns and turns, does not start, but then you can try again after getting sick of it not starting, it will start first turn of the key, it is wierd because, after not starting after cutting out, it then turns straight over after 1 turn of the key, what i mean is, its not like its a fual starvation or nothing, it would seem to me that it is a electrical fault, like missing a spark sort of thing, then gaining spark again and starting up (just an example) thats how it seems, can anyone help me out here, as my stepfather drove around in this car for quite sometime without any trouble what so ever, then it sarted giving him this problem, any help would be highly apreciated, Thanks.

Hi there.

I can 1 million percent guarantee that u need a new crank sensor, I had the exact same problem last moth.

It cost me £28.00 to buy from my local car accessories shop and 1 hour to rectify the problem.

Here is a link on how to do the job. https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-guides/147923-fiat-jtd-crank-rpm-sensor-removal-replacement.html (this was provided by one of the other members here on the forum).

Dead forward simple job to do even without any mechanical or electrical experience.

Hope this helps.
Chris.

Nice One mate, i will buy a crank sensor and give it ago, just i don't really want to m.o.t the car ready for my first car, if it is going to cut out on me all the time, so i will buy a new sensor and put it on and see how it goes, before taking it for a m.o.t, thanks very much for your help mate.
