Punto (Mk2/2b) Colinf1's 2000 Mk2 8v.

Introduction

Hi all,

Heres my progree blog of my work in progress

Bought it in May,

then after a good service and wash/polish

then after i done tints...

and carbon fibre effect badges

then alloys

cc'd wing mirrors

hopefully be getting a few bits n piece to make it look like this soon

We used to have mud flaps on a Mk1, suited it too! Did I see your car parked near silence on wed night? I was out and about up there :p

Realy nice car btw, its so clean! :)

nope, wasnt my car, theres a fair few gold puntos about dundalk, thankfully mines the nicest lol!

needed a wash, as was covered in filler dust...

Focus Induction kit has been given up for lent (wanna see what kinda MPG i can get with standard airbox)

no noticable difference between focus induction kit and original airbox...

averaging about 45mpg on both, i live up a steep winding mountain road which kills my mpg's....

new problem to sort out today, got a slice in sidewall of my passenger side front tyre, was only on a few weeks, but looks like it got sliced on a pothole or stone that was on road...

only way 2 sort it is new tyre...its from the shoulder of tyre, all the way down the side wall, about inch & half long....totally split...wudnt mind if it was a cheap tyre, but its a semperit....

good job I kept the old steel rims, they hav descent tyres on them so jus use one of them for a while...

she's up for sale at the minute...not in a rush to sell it, so wont be giving it away to idiots who kick the tyres and offer €800...

Plenty of views on that, but not alot of calls...

yeah fancy a new challenge...

ive my heart set on an old mini, but prices are way outta my budget...
probably work out alot cheaper to find 1 in england in running order(pre 1980 for cheaper VRT), fly over, drive it home, vrt n all that...

hey bud seen you have mudflaps on, how have you secured them on?
my exaust is melting them !

cheers for that, I got mine in but put some paint on the back of the one next to the exhuast untill I get a high temperature spray for it. I dont want to cut it , and ill do my front ones when I have time will probs take the wheels off

what difference will paint do around the exhaust, id say it will still melt if its too close...
That 1 that ive cut is barely noticable, unless u look directly at it u wouldnt pass any remarks to it.

Yeah m20b25, after a classic mini, but havent found anything out there for a reasonable price yet, so ill stick with the punto for now....

Just a small update...

Detango'd Headlights....was surprised a how simple it was to do, but didnt like getting splattered in the face with hot melting plastic. Goggles are a must!

DIY silver bulbs installed to complete the detango'ing...

Got tyre for the alloy replaced, so front alloys back on car now..

In the pipe line - Re-trim door cards
- Alfa 147 seats

Quick update,

Quite a few things done, yesterday and today,

Replaced the blue cloth door cards with black ones from a mk2b, at least they match the rear quater panel cards now. Bit of a struggle to get the window seal in properly, kept popping out, then had to drill a hole on each for the window winder. Would have help if i took my time lining up the blue one to find the place to drill. Instead I guesstimated it, 1 lined up ok, other one was a bit off, had to widen the hole a bit.

Also picked up a set of abarth side skirts. They where Teseo Blue, so quick rub down, spray and lacquer and there now gold.
Both where slightly warped, but not 2 bad when there on the car, just a pain having to wait for the adhesive to cure.

Yeah, entire car has faded at different rates all over.

Wing mirrors & skirts where done using paint from same supplier, wing mirror on drivers side is ok, but on pass side its a totally different colour.

Nothing much I can do with it, wont be too bad when its all dirty lol
